Rolair VT25BIG

Anyone have this compressor?
I understand this is a new machine.
I am curious as to it's performance (2HP (?), 100% duty cycle) used to spray finish using HVLP guns.

A few weeks ago I was up at the ToolNut and I took a vt25big home with me to try out for a while.  Its a powerful compressor, it fills extremely fast, was able to handle any gun I used and felt like a never ending supply of air.  My only issue with it was how loud it was.  Coming from using the JC10 I just couldn't get used to how loud the vt25big was.  I mainly do trim work so I found the vt25big just to much compressor for my needs and it really needs to be used or setup outdoors.  I don't do any spray finishing so I can't tell you how it would handle it, but I don't suspect you would have a problem with it.  I always blow off my tools at the end of the day and occasionally need to blow out the garage and the compressor never runs out of air.

I returned the vt25big back to the ToolNut and took the vt20tb, I'm much happier with the vt20tb.  Its got a much smaller foot print, really quiet ( a little louder than the JC10), a really cool storage box, and also has a 100% duty cycle motor.  I've only been using it for 2 weeks now and it definitely is a keeper.  Once I get some more time using the VT20tb I will be doing a video on it.

When you were blowing off your tools did it recycle and if so did you notice much drop off in pressure?
The spec'd CFM for this compressor is pretty close to what I am looking at for the gun I am thinking about.

I never experienced any pressure drop with the vt25big. It just fills so fast it seems like you have endless air. I would have loved to keep it but for me it was a little to bulky and it was just to loud to bring into someone's house.

It's on the extreme end of portable from a weight perspective but if it puts out that amount of air, then it's a good solution to onsite HVLP finishing. I don't get much call for that type of work but you need to be in and out quickly (commercial locations) and if you are wasting time waiting for enough air for your gun it doesn't help much.

How does the noise level of the VT25BIG compare to an inexpensive oil-free compressor? I've been looking at the Rolair to replace a small and VERY loud Bostitch pancake compressor, and was hoping to get a good bit of noise reduction with it. Though it sounds like the VT20TB might be the better pick for me, since it should still put out more than enough air for the HVLP gun I have.

The vt25big is as load if not a touch louder than my portercable pancake compressor was. I'm really impressed by the vt20tb, just today I used it to blow out the garage I was working in and it did just fine. So far from what I can see the vt20tb is performing way better than my pancake compressor did. The pancake compressor had a hard time keeping up if I was using an air tool when the compressor was trying to fill.

I am in love with mine. We leave it outside and run lines through the window.
Makita makes one just like. But the wheels are smaller.

I would absolutely buy it again!
