rotex 150 FEQ switched off??

Hi.
I`m new to this forum, and would appreciate some help.
my rotex 150 FEQ just swichet off. after checking the brushes and checking by eye for any mechanical faults, and some discussion with a friend I ordered new main electronic. came today . it worked for a few seconds, than swichet off. nothing, like dead..?? we also checked the switch,which is fine.

what else could it be?    any ideas?                Thanks

That was a bit hasty to order new electronics, expensive mistake.

What I would check:

- The cord, is it perhaps broken inside? Use the sander with another Plug-It cord or if you don't have that, open the sander and hardwire a standard cord.

- You obviously visually checked the brushes and concluded there's nothing wrong there, but even if you don't see anything wrong one of them might not conduct properly. I would have ordered new brushes before even contemplating to buy a new electronics board.

- You can run the sander without the electronics board, just hardwire the cord directly to the brushes. If it still doesn't run, the electronics board is not the problem.

- Take the motor apart, check the rotor and field coild for anything broken or melted. A motor has several different copper windings al intertwined, and they need to be activated one by one in succession to keep the rotor turning. If one of those windings is broken, the motor won't run anymore, but it might start up for a second if the brushes are connected to one of the windings that are still intact.

ok. thanks......  cord is fine, as I`m using my ets  on it .will get new brushes I suppose. if this doesn`t help it has to be a new one...........

Check that the mode switch is fully engaged. Mine shows similar symptoms in that sometimes it will run a second then stop. The switch can look to be fully engaged when it is not. According to my dealer the sander has an override to prevent continued operation if switch not fully engaged in the selected operation mode.

is this the switch to change gears, or main switch?  took the mainswitch apart. looks brand new on inside. and checked with multimeter . works fine.            thanks

FYI, this is what a worn brush looks like (I did not know).  See the pin/peg sticking out...that's bad.  If not for you, this may help others.
