Reviving this old thread, with comment & a related question.
I just purchased an RO 90 DX. I had hoped to use it (among more typical jobs) to remove a long, thin strip of latex paint from a basement cinderblock wall.
My dealer said it would work fine, in moderation, using Saphire course papers.
- But to be safe, I called Festool directly. Their tech said that the rotex sanders are not sealed well enough to protect against concrete dust, and that in fact CONCRETE DUST WILL VOID THE WARRANTEE.
Granted, I want to remove paint, and the OP wanted to remove thinset, but in both cases you're going to also generate some concrete dust.

Well, that was my comment. I'm not sure what the question is. Maybe:
Will just a LITTLE dust really cause damage?
Can I clean-out the brushes, or whatever, afterwards?
