Can someone differentiate the best bits to buy for dado cuts using OF1400?  I'm a bit overwhelmed with the options.  Straight cut, spiral, up cuts, down cuts.....etc etc.  I'm looking to use prefinished plywood and not wanting to fuss over the cuts.  Thanks again in advance.

I have Whiteside, actually I just ordered another one.  I also use Freud, CMT and Amana.  All are industrial quality bits.

A down-spiral bit leaves a smoother cut line with minimal tearout. An up-spiral bit leaves a smoother groove bottom. Generally you will find the down-spiral bit more useful for your needs as jmark said.

Straight bits are cheaper than spiral bits and work well too.
