Router Chip Deflector — re-assemble how?

The OF 1400 router’s chip deflector is separated into three pieces.

I could not find anything on YouTube nor on these forums showing how to put it all back together.

It’s easy enough to snap on the thin split ring onto the 1/2 plastic cup.

Is there a top-bottom surface for the thin split ring to be aware of?

The outer rib bevels off to a surface plane.  And it is a ledge for the opposing surface plane.

Also, how can I assemble the thin split ring and the 1/2 plastic cup onto the metal plate?

Thanks!

Off-topic, but related to taking stuff apart and not being able to fix it back together again - when I was a kid, my Grampa bought an old BSA motorcycle to fix up. The only place he had available to do it was the dining room in his small house. Six months down the line, he’d fixed the motor, replaced some parts and refurbished the rest. When he put it all back together, he had two bolts left over.

He rode it daily for the next five years and never figured out what they were for. I hope you figure it out  [big grin]

Have a close look at the accessory page on the festool website.https://www.festool.co.uk/accessory/492732---ksf-of-1400

My guess would be...
...put the split ring in first, then push the plastic cup through from the other side.  Make sure you've got the metal piece the right way up.

That closeup picture helped a lot.

The neighbor and our four hands got it all back together again.

Thanks a bunch!
