Router Depth Stop Issues

Hi FOGers!  I have a OF 1010 router.  I have been trying to cut lap joint using the router, MFT and rail.  Once I set the depth stop for 9mm it seems like it moves as the cut depths are inconsistent.  I am getting plus or minus 1mm or so between each pass.  The turret is in the same place.  Any ideas of what I am doing wrong?  I did a search and could't find what I was looking for.  Sorry for the newbie question.

Hi!
First thing I would check is the tightness of the collet.  Perhaps you are getting bit creep?  Also you might want to check the cleanliness of the both the bit shank and the collet themselves.

The turret is not a solid stop, it sits on a spring washer. If the plunge lock is off and the router is riding on the turret the depth can vary a bit. To route to a specific depth you have to lock the plunge depth after setting the depth you want. If you’re good at pushing the router down to the turret with a consistent force you will be able to use the micro adjust dial to fine tune the depth. Just re-lock the plunge after each adjustment.

It has been a few years since I used an of 1010, (I didn't replace it when mine got stolen), but my experience was, that  the fine adjustment of the depth stop would rotate caused by vibration, my solution was to firmly bottom out the fine-adjustment in one direction so it would stay put. (I used mine mostly for template routing on doorframes, for hinges and the security cups for multipoint locks)
For your application I would leave the router locked down.
