[eek] My of 2200 router, with guide attached and run on any of my rails does not cut square.
It is over cutting at the bottom side of the timber.
Anyone else had this problem? and found a good fix?

Another option for you and your 2200 is this kit which includes an offset base which compensated for the height difference.  That base used to be available separately but now seems to be combined with the guide rail adaptor.  I couldn't find the base separately.

Hi Ron,
My of2200 is dedicated  to planing the edges of long boards & slabs.
This means the spiral bit needs to extend down below the bottom surface of the board.
As the router is therefore partly hanging off the edge of the rail, adding a shoe wont be riding on any surface.

Run it like this

Problem solved

[member=4541]Ron[/member], If you are edge planing a 4 or 5 meter board that is say 10" wide you would need a benchtop that long and truly flat for your method. I haven't got that so I have to rely on the board itself to support the router the rail and the rail guide adaptor.

get the 2200 accessory kit.

One thing ive learned if festool offers a kit. I buy it. I may not always use everything in the kit. But if I need it I got it.

In this case the step base for routing useing a guide rail is in the kit along with a few other bases.

The guide rail adapter with special base that Peter is referring to is part number 494681.

Good advice!

I'm going to be lazy and just ask here instead of looking it up...

Do they make the same kind of thing for the 1010 and the 1400?

Jeff, if you're asking about if a base similar to the 494681 is offered for the smaller routers...the answer is no.

If you are edge planing a 4-5 meter long board, you should be more concerned about keeping your rails straight. This alone is a fairly serious issue. It's a concern enough with a track saw, which is not trying to pull it off line. A router is far different in this aspect. Clamping the rails at the ends is nowhere near good enough.

That is what I was asking about...thanks.
