I've been doing research but nothing seems conclusive in terms of best tables, lifts, fences...etc. I already own a porter cable router so my budget should provide for a very nice system. If I find that an ideal system goes over $1000 then I can make it happen. I am a spoiled hobbyist (and a poor speller) who likes very nice quality tools--which is the reason I own a small collection of festool. I've been researching Kreg and woodpecker but would like to hear from end users with more experience than myself...thanks

I have 2 router table setups
1. Bosch 2.25HP router with Phenolic Plywood router table , Jessem Rout-R-Lift and Incra 16" fence.
2. Milwaukee 3.5HP router with Woodpeckers Router Table Top, Woodpeckers Side Winder Lift and Incra LS17 Super System.
I had tried the Woodpeckers PRLv2 but did not like the 3/4" microadjust limitation but the Side Winder solves the problem. It is a good lift but you will need to ensure that the cable has the space to run from the lift to the side of the table without interruption.
Go for the Incra fence along with the lift. The two together make a world of difference as you get adjustablity in all x,y and z axes.

If you already have the router your mostly there. For me, I built mine. It only took a few sheets of ply and some scrapp oak for faceframe. I built mine from the Norm Abrhams (then new yankee workshop) plans and it was easy. I did make a few mods though. I put mine on good lockable casters for mobility. Secondly, his plans called for a top made of one 1/2" piece of mdf glued to a 3/4" piece of mdf. I used two 3/4" pieces. That sandwich is wrapped with oak and toped with formica. I also made my top a tad longer to accomodate a used incra LS120 fence that I bought (great and very accurate). I bought the woodpecker PRL and put a PC7518 in it with a quick bump switch. It's been a great workhorse for going on close to six years now without sag in the top or ever a failure. It was a blast to build and takes care of bit storage and is one of my most used tools in the shop.

I have the Kreg setup. Could not wait for Festool to sell the CMS in the USA and it was too expensive it get one from the UK.
The Table, wheels, top, fence, micro-adjuster, lift ( which is a re-brand Woodpecker), a full set of aluminium rings(also Woodpecker), and the on/off switch, the works. I have the 7518 Porter Cable router bolted under the table permanently. I really like the self squaring fence. The Kreg quality is great. It is a very nice tool.
Now the buts. You need to build a enclosure around the router motor if you want to do any effect dust collection. The dust collection through the fence in marginal. Also wish the fence was taller.
Another router table setup you might want to look at is the Sommerfield's Tools one.

I finally decided to go with an entire incra system: Combo kit #3 which has the 17" LS system as well as the Master lift 2. This combo also comes with a stand--I also ordered the casters.
