router table

You will need to go to the UK or some other country as Festool doses not sell the CSM product line in the USA, yet.

The OF2200 is an amazing tool. It seems a waste if permanently used in a router table if that is what you are thinking.

An idea I had is that with the clip-on bases, it seems it would be easy to take one of the optional bases and permanently mount/screw them to the bottom of a table surface and just snap in and out the router for upside down usage. Don't know it the weight of the router would cause it to disengage from the base or not as I have not tried it with mine yet. Going to the router class end of April and will see what they say at Festool.

That is the conclusion I came too. So i bought the Kreg router table and the Porter-Cable 7518 motor only router. The 7518 will stay permanently mounted in the Kreg table. The OF1400 will be used for all hand work. And some day I will buy the OF2200. But not untill I get the Domino.

I have a MFT 800 and a MFT 1080. I considered buying the Woodwerks router table kit, but decided against it.  I already have a Bench Dog portable router table, and I generally use both MFT's while working on a project. I could even use a third MFT most of the time.  The MFT's are such good layout / clamp / assembly tables, I think it's not an efficient use of it as a router table when there are many other less expensive and good solutions for router tables.  One really good reason to have an enclosed router in a table is dust and noise control. Much more efficient than an open router below a table.

In his tutorial, 'Installing a Router on a Festool Multi-Function Table - The Easy Way,' Jerry Work describes mounting a 2200 (among others) between two MFTs.  Go to Jerry Work's site, select the 'tutorials' and click on the fourth tutorial about  Mounting Routers in the Space Between Two MFTs.  This might answer some of your questions.

good find [thumbs up]
i love smart thinking ideas like that , that actualy work in real life
