I believe I read a while ago that the routers require the 36mm hose rather than the 27mm hose, is this correct?  Also, do any other tools need the larger hose (maybe the saws)?  I am considering buying a router as my next Festool and am trying to estimate how much I need to spend in "extras", like a vacuum hose, collet, edge guide, etc, etc..  But I already have about six routers, maybe I need another sander - so many choices.

The 27 mm hose fits every Festool tool, the 36 mm hose will fit the OF 1400 and 2000 routers, the HL 850 planer and the 2 TS saws. The 36 mm is not required for any of these tools, but does a noticeably better job at dust extraction on the routers and planer than the 27 mm hose.

i agree with Bob that the 27mm hose will work for planer and routers.  I have no problems with using that hose, but I am sure the 36mm would mean i could work a little faster with the planer.  I also use the 27 with my DW 625 that is set up over my WoodRat.  that seems to be the combo that spits the most dust and chips.  i have not found a way to capture all from that tool combo, but the CT 33 and 27 mm hose does as good a job as any other method i have tried.  i will eventually be getting a 36 mm hose to use for that setup and my planer.
