I have the Festool 1400 router and have purchased Festool 20 and 35mm router bits. What is the recommended RPM for these bits? I will be routing holes in hardwood, Baltic birch ply and MDF. Given the bits diameter and design (like a modified Forstner drill bit) and their 8mm shank size, I am inclined to run them at minimum RPM e.g. 10,000. Thank you.

I don't know what the actual RPM is, but when I bore holes for hinges using the OF-1400 with a 35 mm bit I put the speed setting on 1. No burn marks in poplar or maple hardwoods or plywood.

Try it and see on some scrap first.

The maximum rpm is printed on the shaft. (There is also a line with an arrow with the length that should at least go into the collar)

Both the 20mm (~3/4") and the 35mm (~1-3/8") bits are marked on their shanks with a maximum RPM of 27000.... Based on prior experience, I think this is way too high an RPM for bits of this diameter. What does Festool recommend for these bits for the best quality cut? I know if I were to spin them at 27000, I'd wear thick gloves, a full face shield and safety glasses....
I tried both bits out on cherry (notoriously burn prone) at the lowest speed on the 1400 router of setting 1 on the speed dial (~10000 RPM) and the cut was clean, quick and without burning.
