Hi folks,
I am using the 1400 for a slab flattening/sled setup for a piece of spalted maple.
How big of a bit can I safely use on this router without damaging it. I have 1", 1-1/4 and 1-1/2.
Thought of getting the 2200 for this project but it is backordered till May. So have to use the ol 14.

Please advise.

Festool offers a rebating head for the 1400 that's 50 mm in diameter so I'd start with the 1 1/2" diameter bit and see how that goes.

I've been using a 1400 for slab flattening. Works fine with a 2" spoilboard cutter.

1-1/2" surfacing bit is a good match for a mid size router such as OF1400. For bits larger than 2" I'd consider a bigger router.

Thank you all.
very reassuring. Havent tried that particular WS but have others and have never been disappointed by Whiteside.

Had the same problem could not find and OF2200 to do a slab flattening. Then I was checking around for a STM1800 and was also able to find a OF2200 at Woodtimber in Mesa  AZ. Had to pay shipping, but I got the OF2200 router and did not need to wait two months.

I ordered mine from the UK along with the collet assembly for the 1400/2200 and an extra set of knives.  [cool]

Before I found the OF2200 at Timber Woodworking I had an OF2200 on order from Rockler with a in stock date of 4/1/2021. When i canceled the Rockler order I checked back on 4/2/2021 and the Rockler in stock date was pushed out to June 2021.

Glade I switch over to Timber Woodworking.  [big grin]

Can you get that bit and arbor in the US?
What about the replacement blades?

Many of us order parts/pieces from the UK all the time.  Is there a reason why we couldn't order from the UK now?  Is it no longer in production?  Can you say where you ordered it in the UK?

Yes it’s still available in Europe, unfortunately a NAINA item in the US.

If you PM me I’ll spill the beans.  [big grin]
