Sanding interface pads

Hi all.

I recently bought a used RO150. It came with a couple of unused soft interface pads which go between the sandpaper and the sander pad. They are 15mm thick.

What sort of tasks would these normally be used for?

The Rotex came with a medium sander pad fitted. Would using the interface pads be an alternative to buying a soft pad for the Rotex?

The thick interface pads are useful for sanding contours on your work piece. You can use them singly or stack them.

They help get a more uniform sanding finish on rounded surfaces.

Careful when taking them off the sander or removing the paper. The Velcro likes to separate from the foam or the foam wants to tear. The Festool pads are expensive to replace if they get torn up.

15mm interface I use for contours
thin interface I use for keeping the pad free of fuzzies when spinning white buffing pads
hard pad I use the most of any
medium pad I never use
soft pad I use occasionally with higher grits on solid surfaces / finishes

Oddly enough, the medium pad comes stock with the sander but is the pad I never use!
