I can't seem to find any good info regarding the vlies discs so i'm not sure if they are worth trying out. Does anyone use the sanding vlies after applying Osmo poly oil?

My current method is finished sand, oil, buff off with cloth, 600grit sand, 2nd coat, buff off again.

I get really good results this way, so will the vlies add/help me in any way?

Also are the polishing fleece disc worth a look too?

I have a ets ec 150/3.

Thanks
Jimmy

I use the white vlies after applying an oil finish. I apply the oil thinly, allow it to penetrate and then wipe off the excess with paper towels. After waiting a day or so, I use my rotex in geared mode speed 3-4. I might do this a few times over the next few days. Then I buff on some wax.

Peter Parfitt has a video on applying Osmo PolyX in which he uses different techniques.  One of which is a vile pad, but not the disc.

I had thought about using the vile pad with the rotex on the oak floor we just installed but went with the application brush recommended by Osmo.  For the floor - the application brush is the way to go.  The scrubbing action of the bistles did a nice job of getting the PolyX into the wood.  And it is amazing how far a little PolyX will go.

Here is a photo of the brush i did use a pole as well (not shown), and please excuse the dirty lens.

I was applying some Osmo 420 to some cedar today. I'm sure the vlies would be suitable, but to be honest all you really need is the lightest of scuffs with a scotch pad with the grain to achieve a superb finish. If you fancy using the vlies I'm sure there'll be no harm done, but it's just a bit overkill IMO unless you've got a massive surface area.

I did not see any improvement after scuffing with the white vlies pad before a second coat of osmo. For me it's enough to do two coats without treating it in between.

Within my limited experience here and using another brand, that is only available in Aus, I have used the Green Vilies to rub in the first coat after 15mins and the White Vilies 24 hrs later and after the second coat. 48 hrs later I buff if required with lambswool pad.

I notice a difference using the White Vilies, but this may be due to the second coat and/or the higher grit of the White Vilies.

Thanks for all your comments so far!

It does seem that most people have different ways of applying Osmo which all seem to end up with good results!

Peters video above was helpful, but I think applying the first coat with a pad like that is going to be quite time consuming compared to rollering the first coat.

I guess using a vlies pad after first coat would then not require sanding but then that's just swapping a stage for another which just seems a little pointless.
