Has anyone tried Klingspor sandpaper for the Festool random orbit sanders? I used their sandpaper on my PC and DeWalt sanders and it seemed to cut faster and last a little longer than the Festool paper. Part of the reason it seemed to cut faster may be the other sanders have a larger orbit than the EQ125. Just wondering if anyone has tried it because I need to order some sandpaper soon. Thanks, Tom.

I agree that the reason the others cut faster is a result of the other sanders' larger orbit. The ES 125 has a 3/32" orbit - not very aggressive. The Festool papers are made for and balanced to the Festool sanders and are pretty competative in price to Klingspors.

I got a supply of Brilliant 320 the other day and tried it today for the first time on a outdoor cypress table top I was finishing. The finish is Helmsman Spar urethane. I already had 3 coats on it but wasn't satisfied with the uneven look. I spent just a few minutes with the 320 attached to the RO150 and it was so smooth I couldn't believe it. Recoated with the Spar and it is like glass. Bob, you are right, nothing wrong with the Festool paper at all. How would it work on my maple worktop coated with 4 coats of BLO? I think I am going to find out...

I concur with Dave Rudy. I have used many types of Klingspor sandpaper and other abrasives and have been very satisfied with their products and especially their customer service. But because Festool's abrasives are so good and priced competitively, I am likely to go to Klingspor only for products not included in Festool's range for my Festool sanders. However, in the past, Klingspor was willing to custom produce disks from any of their abrasive papers to fit any sander. So if you want/need something special, they might be a useful source.
Perhaps OT, but... With an ETS 150/5 EQ (5mm stroke orbital), how long should a piece of sandpaper last when, say, stripping stain off a pine or other softwood piece of furniture? Minutes? Hours?
With cheaper sandpapers I've been quite happy to throw paper away liberally, but now that I've got a sander that costs 10x what my old one did, and paper that's similarly expensive, I've no idea how to gauge this.
Or, more importantly, my sweety has been going through paper like crazy, and I'm wonde4ring if I urge her to slow down or trust her judgement.

What ever you do... do not.... I re-pete do not discourage your "sweetie" any way in using a sander. You've got to love a women that is willing to help sanding!!!!

There is a point that any grit will quit cutting... we are all guilty of trying to get to much out of the paper. The more time you spend with a sander in hand you'll come to realize that "point". However it varies by grit, by material your sanding...

We just got in the first shipment of Klingspor paper for our festools. On first blush it seems to work about the same as the brilliant.
We go through a LOT of paper simply because at a shop rate of $65/hour it is NOT worth it to try to get the very last bit out of a piece of sandpaper! I always chuckle a bit a the statement ( it last sooooooo much longer ).
