High gloss finish polished with the rotex. I havent put in the glass yet but I thought I'd post it anyway.

That is beautiful Eiji!

I can't believe how well you maintained flatness in the table top.

Is there a cabinet under the table?

Gorgeous table Eiji!  Could you be so generous and let us know what the finishing schedule was?  Grits, pads and such.  Did you wet sand with the Rotex? GFCI  lug maybe.

Eiji, that table is gorgeous, any chance of sharing the construction methods  [smile]

What would a table like that cost ?

The finish on the base and legs is
1-coat waterlox
grain filler
3 coats Valspar Zenith pre-cat waterborne lacquer soft gloss

The top finish
same as above except 4 coats of gloss
I let it cure for 6 days (I was on vacation but 3-4 days would be plenty)
each coat was sanded back with 600 grit to fill the grain that the POS crystal lac didnt fill which was next to nothing after two coats
after cure the top coat was sanded with 600
wet sanded with 1000, 1500, 2000 grit abralon pads with the ets150
buffed out with a foam pad loaded with 3M finesse on the rotex.

Next time I will use a decent grain filler IMO STAY AWAY FROM CRUSTALAC nongrainfilling GRAIN FILLER!!!!!!!!!

Quite an unusal design very well done Eiji.  I would like to see some pictures of this under construction.

Thanks for the finishing details.

eiji,  great job, you really make great stuff...  plus working in san diego, my daughter lives there, you have great warm weather to work in all year !

now go and take a break and either surf or go to the fish market restuarant down by the holiday inn on the beach boardwalk area and have a great meal for a job well done.! [thumbs up] [thumbs up] you get a double thumbs up

questions, I went to your website, great, and saw the cab doors you made with slates look... are those slates or dadoed or another way?  they look great.  thinking of using that design on a cab project in the future some day.  when the opportunity arises.

I cut and pasted the pic here to show you what I am talking about and for others to see....
 thanks

I'm not 100%, but I'm pretty sure Eiji did a write-up on those doors a year or two ago, before he went on his 'sabatical' to the dark side  [tongue]  I think it's in here somewhere...

Edit: FOUND IT!!!

Wow, what a cool thread.  Eiji sure put a lot of effort into documenting that project, lovely doors also.  When you say "dark side", where did he go ?

Woodguy,

Unfortunately when I click on the thumbnails the larger pictures are missing (at least on my 'puter!). But it is a fantastic project in both design & execution, and well documented to boot.

And the 'dark side' I mentioned was the TalkFestool forum (meant in jest, of course).

Ah, i have never ventured there myself, would kinda feel like cheating on a partner or summit  [eek]  The thumbnails are the same on my puter also.  Small, but when i click on them they disapear.

I pop over there from time to time. It's not cheating if the other one doesn't find out!  [big grin]

Oh, wait a minute....

Damn!

[big grin] [big grin] [big grin]

When I click on the thumbnails they enlarge.  They do take a little time.

Does it work for you in all the pictures?

The 2 pictures in the first post work, but none of the others lower down the page (and on subsequent pages) work for me...

Darn it, your right. i only checked the first pic last time.  First 2 work but none of the rest.  There was some pics i wanted a better look at as well  [sad]
