Just a heads up that the forum may be offline for a period of time tomorrow during the day while I do some maintenance (upgrades).

Hopefully, it will go smoothly. But, it is possible that some functionality will not be in place after the update, such as Tapatalk. It may take a few days to get everything back in place.

So, don't panic if the forum is down or some of the functionality isn't working normally. Also, the appearance of the forum may go back to its default for a period of a few days since the templates don't upgrade.

Sorry for the inconvenience in advance. But, we are on an obsolete version of SMF (our forum software) and they are no longer supporting security updates. So, an upgrade is required.

No problems Shane, most of us down here will most likely be asleep!  [blink]

Good luck.

Shane, did you change jobs?  Sometime tomorrow makes it seem like you are now working for the cable company  [poke]

Nope, same job, which is very fluid sometimes. Hence the lack of commitment on a start time. Also, if I get done by, say 10am, and you west coasters are just logging on you'll think, 'dang, that was fast', even though the site was down for 3-4 hours.  [wink]

Good Luck Shane!  Thank you for doing all the back end technical stuff.

It looks like forum traffic historically drops off considerably after midnight Eastern, so I think I may go ahead and begin the upgrade process then.

The forum be will offline shortly. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Shane

Ok, the upgrade is complete. You will notice that the look of the forum has changed. I'll work on getting that and all of the modifications that added various functionality to the site added back ASAP.

Don't panic if something is different or doesn't look/work like you're used to.

Well done Shane, all seems to be working. Caught me a bit early, having a mid afternoon Coffee break, so far from asleep!  [smile]

Don't like the new look. Don't fix what wasn't broken layout-wise....

From Venice, Italy with love....

Been thinking and sanding in the Untidy Shop.

Yes the new layout is good, [I particularly like the member welcome], but I am wondering if these subtle background shades of blue/grey could be shades of Festool Green?  [smile]

But as you said before Shane, you intend to reinstall the original defaults over a few days so we should perhaps wait and see.

Guys, like I said, there is still work to be done.

The "theme" or look of the forum could not be upgraded to the new version of the software. Therefore, I will need to work to get the look and feel of the forum back in place. It won't be exactly the same, but it will be more Festool-ish once completed.

Hang tight.

The forum is usable, which is what's important for the moment.

Thanks for your patience.

Shane

Ok, it's getting late. Time to call it a night.

There are still some modifications that need to be loaded back onto the forum, so my work is not yet done. Of note, Tapatalk and the ability to insert inline images into your posts are two that members will probably notice the most. Many of the other modifications have been reinstalled and reconfigured.

See you in the AM.

Shane

Still can't find the button to automatically make me coffee [sad]
