SCHEDULED FORUM MAINTENANCE - Friday, July 18th

Forgive me if this has been brought up already as I confess I cannot find the time to peruse this entire thread.

Anyway of having "Thread started on "  in the various thread listings?  That's been driving me nuts for years on this forum.  :(

Nice upgrade Shane!  I like it!  [smile]

It hasn't quite been driving me nuts, but I would like to see this feature as well - if it's possible and not too much work?

Please don't add another line of text if you don't have to ...I'm thinking more along the lines of modifying what is there currently which says - as an example - Started by Peter Halle

I'm thinking of code that looks something like this:

"Started by (userID) on (startdate)" to read:

"Started by Peter Halle on 7-1-2014"

Thanks for all YOUR hard work on this!

Ok, you should now see options for embedding your attachments into your post automatically.

Sorry this took a while to get working again. I had to manually modify the code to add it back since the original mod wasn't compatible with the new software version.

It wasn't a killer to have to do it manually in the meantime, but this will be faster and cleaner. And I'm sure a lot of very skilled woodworkers don't waste their time to become HTML knowledgeable, so this should be a welcome update for them.

Thanks, Shane!

Is it possible to make the thumbnail images a bit larger?  Seems like the old design had them at perhaps twice their size, which gave you a better view as to what was in them.

Thanks for the continued tweaks!

I also noticed that there doesn't appear to be a distinction for recent posts since my last visit (or was that for the current day).

Hi Shane:
Thanks for your work to customize the software and respond to everyone's input.

Perhaps somewhat related to Rick's comment, every time I hit the "Mark ALL messages as read" button, the feature fails and tells me to log out and log back in again.  After I do that it works once, then stops working again and I have to go through the same process all over again.

I've tried clearing my cache, but that didn't help.

Is there something odd going on with the thumbnail images? This is a shot of a recent post, the first image show up 3 times as thumbnail in the body of the post, then all 3 images show up as thumbs at the foot of the post.

[attachimg=1]

Clicking on any of the thumbs in the body alternately opens/closes the first image. Clicking on the 2nd/3rd thumb in the footer will expand that image, but clicking the first thumb does not.

Love the new look of the FOG, thanks for the hard work on it.

The insert choice from the drop down does not automatically change the number of the attached picture, yet. When click Insert Full Size picture , for example, they will all show number 1. You just need to change them from 1  to  2,  3 etc. or just replace with the # symbol and it will take them in the order  of upload.

See the red part below.  The parenthesis would normally show as brackets. I had to change them to make the example show in the post.

        OR

(attachimg=#)

(attachimg=#)

(attachimg=#)

The duplicate thumbnails at the bottom are a separate issue which require a code change that Shane will also be take care down the road.

The issue with the numbering of attachments inserted in posts should now be resolved.

I tested the "Mark All Read" button and it seemed to work for me without issues, errors or logout.

Something else that is happening since the upgrade, via iphone I keep getting solicited for tapatalk. Both an initial splash screen and a top banner. Not every visit but enough to be annoying. No, I don't want to use tapatalk, haven't wanted to since I joined and I won't in the future, can it please stop asking me. I wish I could set a preference or something to stop getting hit up for tapatalk for good.

Paul,

I'm pretty sure there was an option when presented with that to "Don't ask me again" or something like that. I use my iPhone quite often to access the forum and it doesn't ask me at all.

If you're unable to find that option or another member can't offer any advice, I can look at it on my return. Each time a new version of Tapatalk comes out, I have gone in and edited their code to not ask. Unfortunately, not a simple on/off option from an administration side either.

Shane

Next time it gives me the splash screen I'll look for a don't ask again, maybe I need to scroll down or something but don't recall it. The top banner just has the X on the left to remove. Not at all urgent Shane, have a good trip.

Shane, on thing missing since the upgrade is you no longer see the text of the thread when you hover over the title of it. A small thing but I do miss it.

FOG is looking great, thanks for all the effort and attention.

That mod that shows the text on hover is not compatible with the new version of the forum software unfortunately. Sorry.

Shane,

Would be kind enough to share the code mods you did to get that inline image mod working in 2.09?  I've been pulling my hair out trying to get it to work on a new forum.

Thanks bunches in advance.

Cheers,
Frank
