Hi Guys,

I purchased the Scheppach Basato 3h Vario today, after a while building the machine with very poor instructions there seems to be a problem with the start switch, when I hold the green button in the saw starts and sounds fine but then when I let go of the button the saw just stops, it is like it has got a faulty switch, or I am just doing something totally stupid, I've checked blade tension and been right through the instruction booklet but cant find the problem.
Has anyone got any experience of this saw and could maybe help out.

I dont really know but... Once I used a bandsaw that required the on-button to be pressed down until the blade&wheels reached max rpm.

I don't have any experience with the model saw you have so take this with a grain of salt as it may or may not be accurate.  Assuming your saw has a magnetic starter, from your description it sounds like there is a problem with the seal-in circuit.  This is the circuit that keeps the motor running after you release the start pushbutton.  There should be only two contacts in that circuit - the stop switch and an auxiliary contact on the starter relay.  There may be other items such as limit switches on doors or for a footbrake but these should prevent the saw from starting altogether.  First thing I would do is check the 'stop' switch as sometimes they do stick - cycle it several times to see if it frees up. If the contacts on this switch are open without the button being depressed, you would experience exactly what you have described.
