Screw : C18 or T18 + 3

Hi everyone.

I want buy a new screwdrivers, the Festool C18. I've a CXS and love the "C Form".

I've a doubt for the power off this machine. On Festool's website, there is 27/45 Nm max torque for C18 and 35/50 Nm max torque for T18+3.

T18+3 is really more powerfull than C 18. I thought it was the same machines except the form ?

I believe the C18 has a slightly sorter motor than the t18 hence the slight difference in power.

Also I love my CXS but hate the C18 form factor. The CXS feels so right in the hand, like an extension of your hand. But the C18 is so much heavier that i think it feels unwieldy. It feels front heavy and a bit of a strain.  I chose the T18 and find it far more comfortable than the C18. Your grip on the T18 is under the motor rather than behind it creating a more balanced feel.
Also that much power in the C-Drill form is harder on the wrist as your grip has less leverage against the torque of the drill. Also with your hand behind the motor it is actually less able to fit in tight spaces.

Like I say I LOVE the CXS but don't feel the c18 balances as well.

Different strokes for different folks, but just be aware. . .

Like MrB, I've got the CXS. Hands down my favorite drill. I had the C15 and hated the grip and switched to the T18. My second favorite drill hands down! My favorite 18v period.

I like the C handles for control .. currently have CXS, C15, C18.

T hands for "construction" ... PDC18-4. The extra hand is good if you're using low speed and cutting a big hole, etc.

T-18 over the C-18, all the way. 
The dials and switches are in a better location.
The ergonomics are way better.

I think i will choose T18+3, but i still have a doubt : should i choose the PDC ?

More powerfull, same weight (100 g more for PDC).
Hard choice for me.

oups, I was wrong, from Festool's website :

- T18+3 = 1,7 kg
- DRC = 1,8 kg
- PDC = 1,9 kg

The T18 is 200g lighter, and surely more balanced ?
I will try to take them in hand at my local dealer.

Actually i use most often the CXS. The T18/PDC will be used at 20% off time. The weight is not really the problem. I'm just lost for choose :-(

I have a T18+3 a CXS and a Dewalt Impact Driver.  CXS gets the most use by far.  The T18+3 is great and the different chuck options are terrific.  The form factor of the CXS is great but I am happy the the T factor for the heavier drill.  I considered the more powerful Festool drills but in the end went with the T18 and kept the Dewalt which I use occasionally.

Having owned the T18, C18 and now currently the PDC I can tell you first hand that the difference in weight between the PDC and T18 is negligible. I'm still shocked at how light the PDC is every time I pick it up. And compact for a hammer drill. Slap a 2.6ah battery on it and it's even lighter.

Oh and the CXS is awesome too. I picked that up first along with the Bosch ps32. Usually whichever is closer.

I agree,,i had a chance to hold the pdc today, and was surprised at how light it was.
All of the things I read said it was a beast to hold, but I didn't have that feeling.

I didn't have a chance to hold the t-18 that I went in to see, but was happy with what I did find out.
I am a bit more confused now though.
T-18 or pic. Same price point, same battery platform.

I took in hands the T18+3, the PDC, but not the C18.

The T18+3 and PDC are similar in my opinion. The PDC is a little heavier, but the balance is the same.

I think buying the PDC , which is more versatile.

I just had a festool rep do a demo for me, and the t18 has the available eccentric chuck

The PDC does not have an eccentric chuck available.  Only the right angle attachment

I have the T18 and CXS.  I tried the C18 and felt the balance is off.  Too many years of using the T style drills and my muscle memory doesn't want to change so easily.

  Yeah, I always wondered if that was due to the higher speed that the PDC can reach versus the other drills. Maybe the eccentric chuck isn't rated to spin that fast?
