We would like to extend another invitation to end users to attend a new training event.  Below, you will find details about that event.  Please let us know if you have any questions.

Course Description:
As the next step in the development of Festool end-user focused classes, we are calling for entries for a 2-day class focused on the onsite construction and installation of cabinets utilizing the Festool System.    The class will take place at our headquarters in Lebanon, IN, and will be primarily geared towards professional applications.

In this class, we will cover the tools and techniques necessary to build and install shop-quality cabinetry onsite.  Though participants will walk away with a range of broadly applicable skills, the class will concentrate primarily on the construction of a 32mm frameless upper cabinet and a traditional face-frame base cabinet.  From raw material to finished boxes ready for finish, you will learn how to work faster, easier, and smarter with the Festool System.

Since most of the two days will be spent in the shop, actually using the tools, we request that registrants have some previous knowledge of the Festool System, and/or the basics of trim carpentry or cabinet construction.

Though we hope to add classes geared toward novices in the future, this should be considered an intermediate to expert-level class.

What will I learn?

  • Accurate and safe processing of a 4 x 8 sheet goods with the TS Plunge-cut saw

I wish this had been last month - I had a bunch of vacation time left that I had to use up before the end of the year and have been really looking forward to attending this session, but unfortunately work is interfering with my personal interests right now.  Darn....

Hopefully there will be more of these sessions later this year.

Fred

Fred, the plan (as I understand it) is to have up to 10 end user training events throughout 2010 at each of the training locations.

Any idea when we might see classes available to the end users? Will they will have a cost associated with them and any ballpark idea of how much? I really want to attend all the ones mentioned so far but being a hobbiest, I am not one you are looking for when doing these initial classes. Thanks.
Pete

Peter, there is a plan to create curricula that would be appropriate for entry level and intermediate level users.  There are currently no details available about such classes as we are still in the planning stages.  Likewise, I don't have any specifics about dates other than it would be later in the year.  I will keep everyone posted as information becomes available.

Well, we had yet another great group of guys come to visit us at Festool USA HQ and learn about making cabinets with the Festool system.  Here's a photo.  I'll let the guys from the class identify themselves in the photo if they choose.  Hopefully they will be willing to share some of what they experienced as they return home in the coming days.

The guy fourth from the left is Bruce McKinley, a trainer from Festool Australia who is visiting us for the week.

If you're interested in participating in an end-user training class, our next class is Feb. 15-16.

Thanks to everyone who participated.

So which Festool employee is getting a new kitchen two cabinets at a time? [wink]

None of us until after the door & drawer class  [big grin]

Actually, I've been told that we plan to donate them.

Why do you think it took Shane so long to get his entry way cabinet done? [big grin]

It is almost golf season, I need to look good on the course.  In order to finish the outfit I am going to need one of those polo's.

I may be willing to pay for shipping. [big grin]

I'm in the back row, with the Festool apron and the C12 in my hand.  [eek]  It was a great event; lots of talent in the staff and the class.  I'm switching to True 32 for my cabinets after this.  The tools fit the work.  It's all a system, the 32mm system.  As Brian pointed out, it's no accident that they're located on route 32.

Alex

I'm the fourth from the right with my hand on the 1400.

This was a fabulous experience.  Brian, Rick, Shane, and Minnie are AWESOME, as were my fellow pilgrims!!   [big grin]

While I own many of the Festools, I did get to learn some new tips and tricks.  I visited my Festool dealer today to add to my collection and lighten my check book.   [crying]

I own the TS75 and parallel guides for cutting sheet goods.  After using the TS55 at the training, I discovered even better quality plywood cross cuts with the 55.  The 55 spins faster, has more teeth on the standard blade, and is a bit lighter.  A little comparison calculation shows 2,130 teeth per second with the TS75 vs. 4,160 teeth per second with the TS55.  Hmmmm, no wonder . . . . .

Today, I added the 55 to the fleet . . . . and the 850 planer . . . .and the DTS400 . . . .and the RS 2 E . . . .

. . . .now I need another Sysport.   [eek]

By all means, if you have the opportunity, attend a training class.  But, beware, it won't be cheap when you get back home.    [tongue]

Hey Bill, thats wierd.  I would have figured that the rpm max would be a factor of 32.  Just sayin. [blink]
