BTW, is there any chance you will ever bring back the tucker vise?

Very interesting to see that Lee Valley is now offering the green brand!

Just within the last year we had two local dealers start selling Festool... Now Lee Valley joins the ranks. It can only be good for the brand and overall sales!
I have been using Festool in Canada for 4 years (almost 20 years adding my time in Germany), in the beginning other trades people asked about the tools while working on site.... They called me crazy when I told them how much they are  [big grin] Now it's a different story! Just today (again on a jobsite) someone asking about "that plunge saw" lol I gave him the run down... he was impressed! In other words, in my neck of the woods, people are now well aware what Festool is all about and are not questioning the price tag anymore.
And yes I try to buy all my tools from Dan in Vancouver, superb service and he just knows his stuff!

Cheers
A

Hi Tim -

Yes - but not for awhile. The tooling was damaged, and it would be about $250,000 to start up again. That's a big hit, for a low volume/low margin product. It was one of those products that many aspired to own, but few realized their aspirations...I suppose on the assumption that it would always be available. When we announced that production was ending - people got off the fence pretty quickly...

Cheers -

Rob, I'm one of the folks who didn't move quickly enough.  [embarassed] If you do start to manuafacture the Tucker Vise again, I hope to move more quickly.

wow kinda makes you wonder how mad someone got. I mean, to break the tools that make a vise??  [laughing]

I'd get one as well now. I didn't have the space to use it years back, now I do.

Well, you can put me down for a Tucker vise order when production does ramp up again. And, that also leads me to ask. Was the tucker vise modelled on an earlier heavy duty version?

My father had a heavy duty vise that was capable of doing all the things the Tucker vise can do. I tried to save it when some of his tools came into my possession, but the casting for the screw and part of the frame cracked into a number of pieces ~ some type of tool fatigue I'd guess after many, many years of use. I tried at the time, but couldn't find anyone willing to take on the task of rebuilding the vise. Just another regret about my father's tools.

Anyway, the close similarity of the two vises lead me to ask.

Thanks Rob.
Proof that scarcity and opportunity cost does have it's affect on decisions...unfortunately for me I aspired to own a tucker vise and realized too late that it was out of production.
From a business perspective the Bridge City tool works model works well for them but it's frustrating for me as a consumer when a tool is not in stock/production. The success of the consumer society has me conditioned to believe that anything is available at anytime anywhere.
I have researched vises fairly extensively and other than used ones I don't think there was/is a comparable vise with the same features being manufactured today.
BTW, I deal with the folks at the Burlington store and have found them to be friendly and helpful. On the one or two times that I was not satisfied with the quality of something or I made a purchase mistake, I have found your return policy (time to return) is excellent.

No complaints from service at the Toronto West location, for the record, always nice walking in a Lee valley

Bear in mind that the Festool tab on the home page is only visible if your country preference is set to Canada. I really like the layout btw.

Hey Rob, not sure if you will even see this post, but I emailed the Lee Valley customer service asking if you guys were going to carry any accessories for older Festool items.  They said they will only support products and accessories from the Festool line that you currently carry.  Bummer.

The item in particular I am asking about are the new fleece bags for the CT 22 dust extractors.  The product number for these is 456870 and they come in a package of 5.

Hi -

Looks like you got a half an answer... we are going to only stock current product and accessories in the stores, with an extensive back-up stock in our main warehouse. Of course, we will bring in anything Festool sells, and will stock any component for which there is demand - which includes bags for the CT22 and CT33 dust extractors. If you want to contact me directly at rlee@leevalley.com , I'll be glad to get the bags you're looking for sent to your local store.

It will take us a bit of time to learn the demand patterns of some of the older parts and accessories, but are committed to fully supporting the line.

Cheers -

Rob

Seems like great minds think alike!

I was looking for the exact same product just last week, but could not find it or anything related to the CT22 on the site.

Thanks Rob for the update.

There is an accesories page which shows the other bags for the CT22 and CT33 with LV, but no listing of the new cloth self-cleaning ones.  They should carry them if they are going to carry other CT22/33 consumables/accesories, but it's either not been ordered yet, or is an oversight.  (All Festool items sold by LV are easily brought up on their website by prefixing the Festool item SKU/Product number with either ZA for accesories, or ZT for tools.)

Then again, I can't even find it on either the US or Canadian Festool websites, but I can find them listed on many US retailer's websites and so far only with Dan Clermont at Ultimate Tools for a Canadian retailer.

Rob, I had a router plane in my basket for three days without pulling the trigger. With the taxes and shipping I was hesitant.

Free shipping pushed me over the edge!
