I've tried a few and they have been pretty rubbish.

(self-centering hinge drill bits)

The internal spring catches/snaps making he bit pretty useless.

Granted I've only tried the Screwfix set, probably not the best.

Can anyone recommend a set that actually works and stays in one piece.

Cheers

Hi,

 Welcome to the forum!  [smile]

I have used ViX brand and Snappy (Centrotec compatible version available) with good results. I do get some sticking / jamming in the sliding sleeve with both. But this is usually cleared pretty well by giving them an extra plunge. It is the wood chips that clog it up sometimes.

I have the Bosch version and like it much better than make it snappy
They don't get stuck like the others

Vix bits have worked well for me for ~30 years.  Recently bought the Festool 5mm bit, and it seems to do quite well.

Agree on both counts!
