Senco 1010, SYS-5, Cart

My electric nail guns kept jamming, so with inspiration from the FOG I recently bought a Senco 1010 and put it in a SYS-5. With the feet removed from the 1010 it easily fits inside along with an 18' air line hose and an 18g brad nail gun. I cut a slot on one side of the Systainer for mains cable access and cut a 50 mm hole on the other side for the air line to pass through and to allow for plenty of airflow. There's an attic compartment Systainer lid on the SYS-5 with additional divisions for 4 sizes of brads. There's also a piece of 3/4 ply screwed to the base of the SYS-5 with 4 locking castors attached to it. In use and with the lid down the compressor isn't much louder than the grumblings of a fridge freezer.  The nail gun that comes with the Senco kit - a "Finish Pro" - looks a bit cheap but actually works really well and sinks brads to exactly the right depth and without marring the wood. Just like with all the Festool gear I wish I'd have bought this Senco package years ago.

I need to get around to doing that.  [tongue]

We use larger compressors mostly but when you need that little low amp unit, it saves the day.

Don't you guys in the UK have access to the Senco nail gun kit in a Systainer?

I really want that box.  [cool]  Anyone want to sell one? Senco  Systainer w/insert.

Would that little Senco fire a framing nailer? I think I know the answer but am checking.

. It WILL work with my 15ga Senco finish nailer, but admittedly works even better with my 23ga Pin Nailer.  Not its fault, very small tank.
I could see you firing A framing nail, then the compressor runs, then you fire ANOTHER nail....

Ah ok thanks. I've just sold a larger compressor because it didn't ever get used, am in the process of selling a portable gas framing nailer and a battery powered Bosch 18ga nailer. Am looking for a nice pin nailer for mouldings and such - anyone recommend which gauge for that? 23?

Only have one more wall to build in the future, so I'll use screws instead of the 16ga nails [scared]

OK I'm clearly late to the party here but .. does every tool come in a ssystainer in europe ??.

Nope but a lot of tool company's Seem to dabble at some time or another in systainers but they don't seem to be really committed over a long period of time,  they all tend to veer off on their own version that are still made for them by Tanos but obviously a cheaper version. Metabo being one brand that comes to mind,  they were selling T locks but now have gone back to Metalock. Makita have there Mac-Pac Tanos systainer, similar to the early Festool systainers but with beveled edges.
Bosh used to use the old stlye systainer and Even Dewalt used them at one point but they have both got their own systems now.

Huh , I find it kinda strange that any of these tool companys would try to change an already tried n true system, one that a lot of people are designing all sorts of storage systems in their trucks , shops etc.....
unless they fit together ??
do they ?
anyhow, thanks for the reply

If you keep the compressor on the side like that you can't drain the condensation from the tank, risking corrosion.

I have the same set and sawed off a little on the machine frame so it would sit straight up in the sys. I made a hole for the drain valve on the back so I can drain it without removing the compressor.

Have you had any issues with the compressor running on its side?

The Senco compressor has been fine using it on its side, I remove the condensate by putting the Systainer on its front so the compressor is upright then undo the drain valve as this saves removing it from the Systainer after every use.

I store my 1010 in a sys, but did not modify anything.  I simply remove the front feet and the unit fits in the box easily.  When I use the compressor I reinstall the feet.

That's very interesting to see that the compressor can fit the correct way up!
Would the compressor fit into a sys 3 like this?  What have you got it in a sys 4or 5?

Sorry for late reply!

It would probably fit well in a SYS 4, probably not a SYS 3.
Since I wanted a "complete package" with everything in it and on wheels the SYS 5 was the best choice for me.
