New Festool user here!
Problem 1: Began screwing on power cable wrap holder before realizing it not a regular Phillips head screw. Now the screws are stuck half in. Cannot back them up or screw them all the way in. So what size and shape head do I really need?
Problem 2: How to install vacuum bag?? There is no obvious securing mechanism.
Problem 3: How to connect Mini 1 to a Dust Deputy regular?

Thanks!

Yes, complete rookie to Festool and woodworking. Thought I would try to get it right from the beginning, there are no woodworking shops nearby, and Festool is not making it easy...

Festool manual reads more like a legal to discharge liability onto the consumer. Example: trying consumers for static problems is silly because woodworking naturally generates static - so really a product issue and not a user issue.
Feestool videos tell you almost nothing other ten how amazing their products are.

Hi, welcome!

Presumably this is the Mini 2019-onwards?
Then:
1st: Pretty sure that’s a PH3 head.
2nd: There’s a fixed tab opposite of a bendable tab, the bag should go in in one direction only - look at where the small tube on the DC head enters, the cardboard end where the bendable tab should lock just below the recessed part of the tab.
3rd: No clue - haven’t even seen one live  [big grin]

Problem 3: How to connect Mini 1 to a Dust Deputy regular?

Welcome,

If you have a Lee Valley nearby or able to ship to you, I found these adapters useful to fix a flexible 2.5" hose from my pre-2019 MIDI (our garage housing is different) to the Dust Deputy.

Item 03j6067 sits on the top inlet of the Dust Deputy.  Just friction fit is enough.

And to reuse the accompanied Festool hose on the Dust Deputy outlet,

Item 12f0105 is blue-painter's taped to the front nozzle.

Since yours is a MINI-1, you'll have to route the 2.5" hose out the front.

As for static, it's definitely a concern.  I haven't grounded my feed hose even though I am using the AS Festool hose.  I get zapped often with a router so on my Todo list is to copper wire/tape the DD and 2.5" hose to the vac's port ground.  New Yorkshire Workshop has a video on that process.

Thanks for the replies. All good info and since there are no convenient woodwork ships nearby and I couldn't get the big-box store connectors to fit properly, I ended up getting the overpriced Cyclon. I am a bit disappointed considering the money I paid. It doesn't sit straight on the dust extractor. It also leaks dust into the inside of the upper cyclon section. So that means a noticeable loss in suction. The sawdust is very fine.  But at least I don't have to worry about the HEPA filter clogging up anytime soon.

Hi,

    Welcome to the forum.  [smile]

Which overpriced Cyclon are you referring to?

If it is the Festool CT - VA Separator there shouldn't be dust leaking into the upper portion. Check to make sure all the interior parts are fit together.

The HEPA filter should not clog anytime soon regardless of the use of the cyclone. Assuming you have a bag installed.

Just a little more information. When you say a Mini 1, are you referring to the pre-2019 mini with knobs on the front and no bluetooth? If that is the case, you should be aware that it takes a specific bag for only that model:
SELFCLEAN Filter Bag SC FIS-CT MINI/5 Item number 498410 for CTL MINI manufactured until 2018
We have one at work and I can check on your other issues tomorrow if I remember.

The newer Mini, Midi and CT15 all share a common bag:
SELFCLEAN Filter Bag SC-FIS-CT MINI/MIDI-2/5/CT15 Item number 204308 For CT MINI and CT MIDI units manufactured from 2019 onwards as well as CT 15
