Sewing Cabinet Question

I'm going to build my daughter a sewing cabinet from a design I found in one of my old Wood magazines. You can google it but it was designed many years ago and incorporates many groove, dado, and spine joints. Would you convert this to Dominos or ues the traditional joints?

I dont use commercial bought plans anyway.

Ill look at a design (usually a photo of a piece) then take from it what I want and discard the rest. For example your sewing cabinet. I would look at it from a design POV, take what I want from it and design my own to use the tools I own to make it.

It usually comes out different but the simular to the plan making it a one of a kind piece.

heres my take on a ladder desk and book case I recently built. You can find plans for them but look at the photos and adapt.

Im building another one now and its different, this one is taller and a bit wider and will be sprayed with black poly.

I built that exact Sewing Cabinet for my wife many years ago as my first project getting into woodworking.  I would say you definitely could use Dominos -- but yes; you'd have to re-do the math to replace the joinery as described in the plan.  One thing I noticed, is I purchased the plans (from Rockler I think) -- and I also had the Wood Magazine article.  If I remember correctly, they changed some of the dimensions a little from the article plans (i.e.; they determined the cavity opening between the pedestals was too small on the original and possibly one or more other corrections) -- so if you only use the magazine plan, you may want to prototype the dimensions out first to make sure you build something ergonomically optimal.  It's a great project; and I believe whoever you make it for will LOVE it, however you do the joinery.

once you think you have your dimensioned, build a quick dummy out of MDF and then pitch it and do with you your intended wood

I couldn't find plans for a wall-mounted version. 
Was it difficult to adapt from the more common floor model? [big grin]
