Hi everyone!  I'm new to the group and have been exploring the site for a few weeks now.  However, this is my first post. I'm in the process of building a pantry cabinet much like the one in this picture.  I'm having a difficult time locating a supplier for some shapeable metal rods to use to make the rails to aid in keeping items on the shelves.  I'm thinking I need them to be about 14-15 inches in length to accommodate the bends.  I briefly considered using straight wooden dowels, but since I've made the shelves adjustable, I want the rails to go with the shelves.  I'm also open to other ideas for the rails.  Ideas anyone?

I've added a link to the pic to avoid copyright issues.

Thanks!

Ken

Welcome to the forum.  I would suggest that you do a google search for wire cabinet pulls.  That is what appears to have been used in that image.  Available in multiple sizes and finishes.

If you have an Ikea close they carry several sizes but they are three pieces.

Thanks for the welcome and the replies!  I had thought about using cabinet pulls but wasn't sure if there might be a better way to go.  I will see what I can find.  Thanks again!

You could use aluminum rod from the hardware store and bend it around a form.  Optionally drill and tap the ends to receive a 8-32 screw.  I have purchased the aluminum rod and used a drill and steel wool to polish it as one approach.

For a supplier that takes credit cards on-line and ships right away, try Mc-Master Carr. They stock all sorts of metal products in addition to stocking just about everything else... [blink]
When I need something like you've described for a custom made type thing, they're the first place I tend to research since you don't need a commerical account to buy from them.

Thanks!  I will check that out.  I still haven't decided on which way to go since this project is a "spare time" thing.

Update - I finally found the wire cabinet pulls that I need for this project.  I had a Lee Valley catalog here that they had sent me with a previous order and was looking through it and found exactly what I needed!  I was having difficulty finding them that were long enough and didn't break the bank as I needed 30 of them.  Then this morning I'm going through some boxes in the garage and found the catalog.  They had exactly what I needed, so I hopped on their website and placed the order.  Funny thing is that I've ordered hardware from them several times before, but didn't even think of looking there until I found that catalog!

Many thanks for all the ideas and suggestions.  Now I need to get the cabinet done so that when the hardware gets here, I'll be ready for it.
