These are just some proof of concept parts. The SVG I had was essentially just an outline, more like artwork than a free-standing unit, so it was all "one piece". I separated the neck from the body, so that they could be made from different materials. The first attempt is the one with the white outlines on the interior details. It was mostly just to test the off-set required to fit the neck into the body. It worked out pretty well, so I went into phase 2 with a piece of Poplar for the neck. These are very small, at little over 6.5"
After that worked so well, I decided to scale up some. The bigger one is 20" long, still 1/4" thick.
I didn't really have enough time to get into the TV cabinet (and didn't feel like firing up the giant dust collector, jointing and planing) These files have been in "My Files" for a while, so today was the day.
Next time, they will get a little better planning, maybe a VanHalen red/white stripe or sunburst veneer...at least better wood for the body. That piece of Ash is pretty cool though.
A real piece of plastic for the pick guard, rather than filling or painting?

Nice! There's something about cutting out guitars on the CNC that's just really cool!

I did some similar ones a while back in MDF for the wife's music program at the kinder she works at, the kids went absolutely nuts over them!

One of the guys I work with has a bunch of real ones and he has a couple of them hanging on his office wall. This is the same one I did the floating shelves for a few weeks ago, with all of the motorcycle models.
I thought I would make a mini guitar and put it in his office somewhere and see how long it took to notice.
After that, it was just me playing around.

I have wanted to build a real one for years, but I can't play it when I'm done, so no.
