Sharing Guide Rails with ATF 55 and TS 75

Is it practical (I know it's possible) to use the same guide rails for both saws? I'm mostly concerned with the anti-splinter edge. Can both saws be adjusted so they cut on the exact same edge? I have an ATF 55, and I'm contemplating buying a TS 75. I have a big collection of guides, and would prefer not to buy any more.

Thanks,
Pat

If you read the guide by Rick it gives instructions on how to use different saw blades on the same guide rail.  It's on page 12 of the Supplemental Manual for the TS 55.  It's called "Matching the TS 55 to an existing guide rail"

You can click here and go directly to it or you can go to: http://www.waterfront-woods.com/festool/index.htm to view it and check out this guide as well as others.

I believe this is the answer you are looking for.

I can't answer that for sure, but I would assume so.  I don't have the TS75, I have the TS55.  Being that there is only 1 guide (manual) made by Rick and it's for the TS55, that makes me think so even more that it has the same adjustment.  It would make sense that Rick only made 1 guide because both saws are very simliar and the biggest difference is the motor, blade size, and slip clutch.

Someone else here may be able to answer your question in more depth.

Thanks again. In any event, it appears that I can adjust my ATF 55's blade position relative to the cutting edge, so I'm covered.

It is easier to adjust the TS-class of saws, so you would want to adjust your TS-75 to match the ATF-55. But more importantly, all of your existing guide rails are matched to your existing saw.

Good point, Rick. Especially since I just replaced all my splinter guards. What a pain.
Anyone else have trouble with the glue? When removing the old strips, most of the glue wants to stay on the rail.

Thanks,
Pat

Yeah, just use something to remove it.  I use 3M adhesive remover but I'm sure you have something in your shop that will work just as good.
