Sharpening Kapex Saw Blades - Recommendation?

Hi Tom & Peter,

What would be a reasonable/typical charge for sharpening an 80 tooth Festool blade for the TS 55?

TIA, Dick

60 tooth is $15.00, 80 tooth $20.00.

As mentioned above ship as many as you can at one time to keep shipping costs down. I normally ship 20-25 blades at a time.

I let Ridge Carbide sharpen my blades for my Kapex, ts55, table saw, and planer and they all came back as good as new.

If you have a Leitz nearby, use them. They make the Festool blades, as well as other high end blades.

+1 of Leitz. I use their NC facility. You will need to call to setup an account with a CC. Minimum order is $100. There work is outstanding and very timely. Maybe a week and 1/2. I usually send a few blades at a time. The last time I sent some auger drill bits for sharpening as they are expensive enough not to discard and buy new. They also do router bits I think.

Anyone have a link to the Leitz service? I can't get any where with searches to find pricing, shipping, etc..

[member=1619]SRSemenza[/member]  I'm in Australia, so might be different for you, but you would need to contact their sales rep/office. Leitz down here actually pick up the blades and return them the next week, so you need to open an account with them.

Yeah, looks like they are not set up to just have people fill out a form , send them in, and ship them back. Can't find any pricing either. Searches get company site / offices. Then you have to contact them, etc.

No big deal. I have already shipped a stack of blades else where. Just wondered about pricing and procedure for comparison.

I only used Leitz once when Forrest turned down my request to sharpen Kapex blades. I shipped them off to the Michigan facility and the process was kind of involved. I had to sign up for an account and there was a $100? minimum sharpening charge. I was very happy with the results because it was only a 7-10 day turnaround. After that I just purchased a couple of extra blades and am still working on those.
