She wasn't a woodworker, but she tried to make $1 Mn using a circular saw!

I read that yeah, it is unimaginable you could do that to yourself, just for money, which you then have to hand over to your abusive boyfriend.

I... er... saw [big grin] this the other day and, after the initial "yyyyouch" response had calmed down, arrived at the conclusion they were going to get caught out whatever they did. Their story was just never going to stand up; you just don't use a circular saw to cut branches.

I see it on social media posts where there seems to be a growing obsession among younger people in countries like Slovenia and other Southern Slavic countries with wealth, and material goods, luxury items, etc. Sad indictment of the consumerist culture that your health is valued second to your wealth.

It's sort of reminiscent of the buses full of retirees with marginal finances going to the casinos (before COVID) to " win some easy money".  It always amazes me when people walk into a big money casino and think they will win out over the people who built the casino and designed the games.

The news reminded me of this:

I wonder if anyone or company is working on that safety idea. Circular saw kickback injuries are often serious to the hands, arms or legs (thighs).

I just can't imagine how any person, not using serious recreational chemicals, could in any way justify to themselves the pain and crippling that this act of stupidity would produce long-term.  All I can say is, "Darwin was right!"  [scared]

Doesn’t the Mafell MT55 have an anti kickback system like that? There are also many angle grinders that have some sort of kickback stop.

Around 38 years ago I was not helping a guy do a demolition on a house for fear of asbestos.  Anyhow he ct the tip of his index finger off to get the $15,000 insurance money from Crocker bank? that was running a promotion, if you had loss of limb or injury then you were eligible. Long story short the bank didn’t pay out. Later part of his finger did grow back...
