Shellac Primer/Pro Classics Oil HVLP?

what is required to spray Pro Classics oil and shellac primer with HVLP? I was just reading the data sheet and they just show airless. My Graco magnum X5 homegamer sprayer kicked the bucket and I haven't decided what route I want to go for airless.

I have a cabinet that needs to be sprayed and I just don't have the time to do research on airless right now. I have a Fuji MM4.

What thinning/tip would you recommend for this combination? 

Or would you just recommend me get a Graco Ultra Cordless sprayer for the time being? Thanks!!!

There are several members of this forum that individually have forgotten more than I'll ever know about HVLP and S-W products.  That said, I just went through a similar exercise last week using S-W ProClassic, and eventually shifted to Emerald.  I used a Fuji Q4 Gold, starting with the 1.3mm jet set, then migrating to the 1.8mm jet set and thinning the product to 20% to get it to lay down right.  All I can say is try your settings on a piece of cardboard until you get a substantially good pattern without large spatters before moving to the cabinetry that is to be sprayed. Know that you'll likely use more product than you anticipate to do the job.  Try to get the right combination of the smallest jet that will spray a good pattern and the most effectively thinned product.  No doubt, those more experienced members will chime in with better advice than this, but this has been my experience.  Good luck.

Like [member=7493]Sparktrician[/member], I know that there are many who are much more skilled and experienced than I.  My initial attempts at finishing with an HVLP I thinned based on percentages.  What I found is that I need to use a Ford Cup to thin correctly; this ensures much better consistency in viscosity that using percentage based thinning.  I spoke with the folks at Fuji at IWF in Atlanta last year and they assured me that I was on the right track.  They also told me that the thinning guidelines the manufacturers publish are also designed to keep the VOC's within Gov't specs.....  I've had good luck with S-W Emerald when I thinned it to about 35 seconds.

I concur with [member=42009]gunnyr[/member].  My bad for neglecting to mention that I used the #4 Ford cup to get an initial drain time, then from that, figure out how to thin the product (by percentage) to get a better spray pattern.

The manual has a pretty good guide on how to set up the gun for latex and other laquers. I shoot with a MM4 and use the 1.3 tip for KemAuqa+ and Zinnzer BIN 123 primer. I then use 1.8 mm tip for spraying proclassic thinned to about 20%. The first time I use any paint i use the viscosity cup to get the recommended flow times in the book.
