Is it possible to equip the Shinex with an 8" buffing wheel?  Will the chuck accept a standard hook and loop adapter?

The Shinex has a standard M14 threaded shaft, it will accept any pad with an M14 inner thread.

....it may take the 200mm/8 inch head but it was designed for the 150mm/6 inch head. I think this is on the side of the Shinex also

I'd caution you that if it's the 2100 rpm model Shinex you want to put an 8" pad on, you may have an issue with burning the paint, because the pad edge velocity is 33% greater. This would probably not be an issue with the 1400 rpm model.

The Shinex versus the Pollux.... Festool really wants you to use 150mm /6" max diameter on the Shinex. I have the earlier version that Festool first brought to the US, so I haven't seen the newer versions being offered now which offer two different speed models .
I still wish the larger Pollux model would make its way here, but I'm not holding my breath.
If you do rig up a larger pad, post some thoughts on how it went for you.
