Shipping for long rails

I recently bought some Festool stuff used and the TS55 came with just the standard 55" rail. I want to order a longer rail (106" or 118", not sure), and I understand these rails usually come direct from Festool and shipping these longer rails usually require an extra charge for freight. The question is on the shipping costs - are they the same for all the dealers, or should I shop around for lower shipping costs? Most of the time the online ordering pages just say "extra charge for shipping", so I would have to call I guess.

Thanks,
Jeff

Festool's pricing includes the cost of shipping.  So, you should not incur any additional shipping costs for long rails.

Jeff,

You might also want to try a local Woocraft in northern Virginia and see if they have one in stock.  That is what I did when I got mine.  They usually have the 108.

On-line dealers have the option to charge or not charge shipping for any, all, or none of their products. All longer rails are extremely expensive to ship though. The 118" rails do not ship UPS, truck freight only.

Thanks guys. I had checked online with McFeely's and Highland since I have accounts already set up and McFeely's didn't list the freight charges (only that there would be some) and Highland had a $25 surcharge plus shipping charges. Sounds like like I need to check with Bob  [big grin]

Bob - sent you a PM.

Bob is spot on.  We spent some time trying to figure a more affordable, efficient and effective way to ship these the last few weeks.....long story short, still working on it.  It's pricey.

Still waiting for mine. I ordered it from the local Rockler dealer, back when the sales started. They gave me a loaner from the Festool rep. But I'am still waiting for mine?
