Shipping the Walko Workbench out of the UK

I have had some questions from our non-UK members about the Walko Workbench.  Obviously shipping them abroad isn't going to be cheap, but I'm willing to organise shipping quotes for those interested in owning the excellent Walko Workbench.  It's impossible to give a flat rate on international orders, so please contact me either via PM or on our website and I will get you an individual quote based on what products you are interested in and your address.

If you are looking to ship multiples here you should investigate the services of a freight consolidator.  Basically they arrange for multiple people to put all their stuff in shipping containers and the cost is a lot less than going stand alone.  Ou might want to check out Schenker and discuss what you are trying to accomplish.

Thanks Peter.  I do actually use a Freight Forwarder for my Import/Export and get excellent rates.  Group buying may be a good idea, but we would need to weigh up the options.  For example if those orders where scattered throughout the US, it might not work out any cheaper than a direct service.  I'm happy to help find the most cost effective way to do it if people are interested.

Which model Walko would make me not want to build the UWB. Mainly i want to process sheets with a one foam piece on top. Everyone tells me the UWB is about $200 to make, what are people estimating the cost of a fully loaded Walko that can process sheets to be? What can i do with the Walko that i cant with the UWB? Any help would be appreciated, thanks Eric

I can't offer much insight to most of your questions, but the cost of the Walko far exceeds the costs that you quoted for building the UWB.

Peter, i looked at the Walko UK website and while it looks awesome as an mft it doesnt look that great for sheets or assembly, Eric

The Walk has some really need features.  I thought about getting one years ago but passed because I didn't want to haul another 50 lb plus table around to jobsites.  I still utilize sawhorses and pink foam at times.  [big grin]

i think the walko is more suited to site work rather than shop work . it is all about flexability. if i was cuting sheets all day in the same place i would have a dedicated cutting table. but for the odd sheet or 2 , the walko shines. set it up cut the parts , set it up as a tablle and machine the parts.

it doesnt have the same clamping capabilities as the mft (no extrusion).

the walko 3 is my go to site bench. i love the thing and would reconment it to anyone.
if you have a big van (lots of the us  lads have big vans) then get the walko4
