Shop and van security

I started looking at DIY security systems for my shop that use a GSM SIM card, and am overwhelmed sifting through the info and reviews. [blink]

Does anyone have recommendations for brands in particular or websites for guidance in general?

My ideal system would be wireless, and allow me to put a motion detector inside the work truck (which sits just outside the shop at night,) and potentially have a camera or two that I could feed to iOS. . .

Hey guys, I guess I will revive an older post here.
After reading this thread when it was posted, I've been thinking ever since about an alarm system for the house and the garage (shop). In the US everyone knows of systems like ADT etc...These are very expensive to have installed and monitored. I wanted something different and cheaper per month.
I chose a system called SimpliSafe. It's all wireless, can have up to 41 or 42 components on it, separate keypads (house & garage/shop) all doors and windows, glass breaking sensors, motion sensors, CO and fire detectors, freeze and temperature and 24/7 monitoring a few other things.
Installed in about 2hrs. and had it set up and working in about 2 hrs.
Does have battery back up and sensors will work up to 100ft away.
You are able to monitor it thru your smart phone somewhat. And it can be customized. Believe it ran me just under $600
Heck, that would pay itself off in one of my green tools. [wink]

My theory is if someone really wants to get in to my shop or van, they will no matter what I do to try and stop them.  Therefore all my tools are insured. If I don't make it to tough for them to get in hopefully the damage to the van will be minimal. I'm not saying I leave my van unlocked all the time but I don't have any extra security on it. Also on my next van I will get one without glass in the doors so no one can see in and look at what's in there.

If you have a van, go on YouTube and do a search on how to open it.  You will be surprised on how easy it is.  Ford Transit and Ram Promasterers are very easy to enter.  There is a solution.... there are Puck locks that run about $250 USD and will lock your side and rear door.

At home, I have a dog, security cameras and park the van in my back driveway.  When my Systainers are in the garage, I block the door with an 2x4 and entry can only be made by remote garage door opening.  All my Festool are engraved with my last name and NY state drivers liscense number.  I have photos and serial numbers on record.  Should I have a lost, I will be looking at local Pawn shops and Craigslist listing.  I have too much investeded in Festool... I'm not going down without a fight!  Peace... Out.
