I am not sure if this is the correct place to ask this, but here goes.

I have a one person shop (approx 25x30 feet) which has many Festools but no first aid kit. What should I put together for such a kit? Are there some sort of standard kits available for this environment? Years ago an ER doc in another woodworking forum gave a list of items, but damned if I can find it.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers,

Peter

When I was building out my shop, I bought a mid range priced first aid kit on Amazon, maybe $60, with the basics in it. I also bought a self contained eye wash station to mount on the wall. I have only used a few band aids so far---  Better safe than sorry!

A little while back wow (RIP) put together kits that were essentially mini-trauma kits.  He included an inventory of the contents in case we ever needed to restock.  I'm sure someone could post a picture of the inventory list and you can pick and choose what you need.  It was really well thought out, thankfully the handful of times I've needed it, it's all been for minor stuff, but I'm glad I have it around.

If someone doesn't post a picture I'll add it later this evening.  You might even find it buried in his first aid systainer thread on the FOG.

Anyway, the PDF file is attached again here:

I just ran to the drug store, bought a variety of band aids, some white tape, gauze and some antiseptic ...

Im going to add some super glue (yea it works great). Anything more, Ill probably end up in the ER

I was looking for a first aid kit and couldn't find one from Festool and missed the custom ones that were offered here (I was late to the game). So I purchased a Systainer mini and insert. I found a guy on Etsy that printed a custom first aide plaque for the T-Lock handle. Bought some band aides, antibiotic cream, antiseptic pads, and tweezers to round out the kit. Works for basic triage. If someone is interested in Etsy link, let me know.

About a year ago I was climb cutting some oak on the router table (without push blocks [eek]) and sure enough got pulled into the bit slicing my finger pretty badly - not enough for an ER trip, but it bled for quite a while and took a month or more to heal. That incident encouraged me to put together a first aid kit - mostly stuff I purchased from Amazon. I probably went overboard and haven't had to use it since then - hopefully it will stay that way.

The contents are (with prices paid where I had them):

1 - PAC KIT (30 alcohol wipes, 6 first aid/burn cream, 6 antibiotic ointment) packets - $5.00
1 - PAC KIT EYE WASH KIT (flushing solution, eye pads, adhesive strips) - $4.77
1 - PAC KIT OVIDONE IODINE WIPE (10 pads) - $1.57
1 - BENZALKONIUM WIPES 5in x 6in (box of 100) - $4.97
1 - TRAUMA PAK (clotting sponge with gauze pads & roll, gloves, bandage, antiseptic) - $19.33
1 - ISRAELI COMPRESSION BANDAGE (6 in x 70 in) - $9.14
1 - TRAUMA SHEAR (7 inch) - $3.73
1 - TWEEZERS (Tweezpro stainless steel) - $7.97
10+ - BAND AIDS (1 in x 3 in) ?$
5+ - GAUZE PADS (4 in x 4 in and 3 in x 3 in assorted) ?$
2 - ROLLED GAUZE ?$

Couple pics (red duct tape over the t-lock):

I know it's a bit off the beaten path, but in my life as a first responder, the two go hand and hand. Don't forget a fire extinguisher. Keep in mind also in an emergency water is fine to flush hazard material from the eyes. The small amounts of saline in those kits does not nearly reach the copious amounts needed. We used to say when you think you've flushed the eye enough, start flushing.

I highly recommend the foldable tweezers with the built-in magnifying glass. Great for those tiny metal slivers that you feel but can't see, or something similar and equally annoying.  I own 2 pairs of them.  I think Lee Valley has sold them among other vendors as wellhttp://www.leevalley.com/US/garden/page.aspx?p=10435&cat=2,42551,62567,10435
Just posted a link to them at Lee Valley
