Shop vac woes (aka - No Good Deed Goes Unpunished)

I borrowed some ideas from another thread and added a cyclone to the Festool system.  Rarely change a bag, and keep the ability to attach systainers.

Toughest part was making the bottom of the home made debris box fit the sortainer tab pattern:

Making a box and fabricating a latch system for the cyclone was next:

The whole unit with the sortainer of choice looks like this:

Love it.

You almost got the two thumbs up, but that one picture came out sideways.  Sorry, better luck next time.

No, seriously, that's a nice setup.  I take it the D50 hose that came with your Boom Arm is the one shown.  And here I purchased a longer D50 for the occasion -- as they say, my bad.  But then again, I have other plans for the extra hose...

Next you'll want to make the connection -- er, the AS connection, that is.  Don't have to go further than the garden department at your local hardware to purchase some copper tape that is used to distract slugs.  A little tricky getting from input to output on the inside, but not that bad.  I'll post a current picture later this week (too busy now), as I did more on my setup the day after my last shots.

Sorry Corwin;

My first attempt at posting pictures.  This is easier on your neck:

Look forward to your information.  Thank you for the input.

By the by,

What part of WA are you from?  I'm out between Spokane and Walla Walla, growing wheat.

That is much easier on the neck!

I live on the other side of the hump at the gateway to the San Juan Islands...  Looking to move to another location and leave Sardine City behind -- my name for a place where we live like so many sardines in a can.

Just received some Loc-Line products that I purchased from Seth, and will need to order a few additional pieces to complete my next 'improvements' to my cyclone setup.  So, I'll wait to post those new pics for awhile.

If you are going to use the vac with festools, I would agree the CT is more convenient. I have a Fein turbo II with the accessory pack and basket. For hauling, moving around and cost I like it better than the CT.

Another shop vac woe. A silly little problem really but an aggravation nonetheless ? any advice will be welcomed. Problem ? the connector part of my midi vac hose has set itself free from the hose. It should simply screw back on right? WRONG! Clock wise, counter clock wise, pushing hard, or using a light touch, I can't get the two pieces to come together tight enough not to fall off with an easy tug. The "threads" of either piece are fine and undamaged. No obvious impediment. Geez, I hate to resort to duct tape (no Festool dignity there) but it is a real pain to have the vac hose falling away from a tool in mid use. Ideas?

Sam, the connector exist out of two parts, the main part and a ring at the back that secures the connector sleeve to the hose. You still got the ring? But if you can't get it too work, no need for duct tape, a new hose sleeve is separately available for about $17.

Johnny Round Boy the thread you indicated was of course the home of the solution. I knew this problem was more cleverly solved with an elegant (though not very obvious) Festool bit of engineering rather than with duct tape, pull ties, or my other frugal Scot alternative,  a dab of Gorilla Glue. It is after all the STRONGEST GLUE IN THE WORLD and I have yet to find a good use for it. Thought that I finally had, oh well... Thank you all.

PS

Why does the spell check on this site not recognize the correct spelling of Festool?
