A couple months ago I asked if anyone had built one of these.  It seemed like an asset for a small shop.  I didn't get any response, so I went off into unknow territory.

I used the table profiles on each side and a piece of T-slot on the back.  That required making my only clamp to hold the back of the guide rail.  And I used 1/2" plywood for the table top; hopefully I won't set the saw blade too low.

I only made two holes to take the guiderail.  For that I used a 3/4" hole saw and a little filing.  I will need a few more for hold-downs and the like.

It still needs legs, but the prop works fine for now.

The white panel on the TS is a shopbuilt router table.  I said it is a small shop.

Hi,

Great idea. Looks nice and solid too.  Is that Kreg track?  If so you may want to swap it for another brand because the Festool Quick clamps won't fit that one. I know that they will fit Incra and Woodpeckers though. Just a thought for even a little more capability.

Thanks Semenza. I don't think any one has ever posted that information before. Might be worth trying a new thread on What tracks work with Festool.

Looks like that may be a track from Rockler.

It is Rockler, and no, it doesn't fit the Festool clamp.  But it was free, being left over from the router table.

Hi,

Just to clarify for posting in the other thread -  did you try the Quick clamp  or the screw type clamp?

Toller,

How did you attach the Festool profile rails to the shop built MFT table top?  I've ordered a couple of profiles and want to get the most stable and secure fastening to my table top.

Thanks,

Thanks,

I found some bolts where the heads were well captured by the profile, and bolted them to wood.  Then I added the front and the back; put in some diagonal braces, and put some 1/4" plywood over the bottom, nailing it to all the pieces in involved.  Came out extremely sturdy.

I "think" the bolts were 5/16", but could be wrong.

Hey, nice job!  I also think adding t-track would be a good idea.  I'm using Lee Valley's in my current jumbo mft, and although I haven't yet put it to much use, they seem to be very handy.  They don't work with the Festool clamps, but since my MFT has the 20mm grid of holes, it's not a big deal.  With a solid top, I think there'd be a great advantage to having t-track that works with the Festool clamps.

Regards,

John
