Short and Stubby Hex Shank Drill Bits

If you are looking for short drill bits for confined spaces, I found two sets that might suffice.  While attempting to drill a few holes in the hinge edge of the driver's door on my mini-van, I only had about 4 inches to work in.  I saw that Festool has a stubby set of brad points, but I did not see any for metal drilling.  I found two other sets that were short enough to fit when combined with the T15 right angle adapter.  Both have hex shanks and can go into the end of the RA adapter without a chuck, saving some space.  The Milwaukee set measures just over 3 inches for the longest bit and I think the Milescraft set is even shorter.  I couldn't find the Milwaukee set on their website so I'm not sure if it is a current product, but I found it at a local hardware store so that's the one I got and it just fit in the little amount of space I had to work with.  The bits worked fine.

Lee Valley has short bits. They seem to be the same as the Milescraft bits.

I have the Lee Valley set.  Great for tight spots with the CXS and right angle head!

That Lee Valley set looks good, think I'll include those in my next order.  I have the Festool stubbies that were included in the Centrotec Installers set and they are excellent.

I'll likely get the stubby bradpoint bits when I get the CXS, the Lee Valley selection looks interesting too.. I think the stubby bits are not only interesting for getting into tight spaces, I think they would gived increased comfort and accuracy when drilling smaller diameter and shallow depth holes generally..
