One Word...WOW!!!

The technology exhibited yesterday was simply amazing with regards to the surgery.

I went in at 10:30 got admitted and then off to have a "stealth CT scan" taken.  They took 200 pictures of my head in about 3 minutes.  They then took those images and made a "Stryker Model" model of my head...inside and out.  This is a 3D replica of my noodle that they calibrated their instruments to.

The procedure started about 1:30, and took about an hour and a half to perform.  I got to see this "Stryker Model" right before I went under with the general.  Dudes, it was an incredibly trippy thing.  You could see every eye-lash, out of place eye-brow hair, every small skin imperfection etc; truly amazing.  The model went deep as well.  Into the sinus, brain.  I can't wait to see that bill.  $1300 for a miter saw isn't that bad...lol.

They started by straightening my septum, and then bore out all 8 sinus cavities.  A bunch of tissue removal during the reaming.

The most amazing part to me is the recovery.  Before I came out of the General, I was given a dose of Morophine.  There was no pain after waking up.  I hung out with Darlene at the hospital for about an hour after coming to and then went home.  Fully coherant, and felt a bit tight through the schnoze, but not uncomfortable at all.

Upon arriving home I took a pain pill in anticipation of pain.  I believe the Doc referred to it as "pain management."  I am on an anti-biotic, steroid, and afrin for a few days and that's it.  Before bed (upright in the lazy-boy) I took another pain pill in anticipation.  I actually stopped bleeding through the nose (not serious at all....sounded worse than it was) around 8:30 last night and did not have any spotting at all when I woke up this morning.

Speaking of waking up, THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO PAIN ASSOCIATED WITH THE SCHNOZE THIS MORNING.  Once again, I was a bit stuffy, but not bad.  I got to do the nasal irrigation this afternoon and that has helped immensely.  Feeling good, and no pain pills necessary at all.  I could have gone into work today, but Darlene took my truck keys away and hid them because she knows that's exactly what I would have done.  After 19 years she knows me pretty good.

I wanted to thank all those again who called and wrote to wish me well.  The procedure went off without a hitch, and I AM ABSOLUTELY AMAZED BY THE LACK OF PAIN ASSOCIATED WITH THIS PROCEDURE.  All of the anticipatory anxiety I had felt towards the recovery was so not necessary.  I hope that others that have similar issues and are going to have this procedure are as fortunate as I have been.

So the pic below is my way of once again saying "It's all good in junkieville".

Welcome back to the breathing world Timmy!

I'm glad it all went so well for you.

T,

Did you have your surgery at a pet hosptial?  What's up with the paw print?   ???  Glad everything went well.

Timmy,

Glad to hear everything went well.  Hope you have a speedy recovery.

Dude, it is amazing that you are doing so well so soon. Randy posted something about "I wonder when he is going to work on the table and I wish I too could laze around in bed" but otherwise things seem great.  :D ;) ;D :) Fred

DUDE, thats all I kept saying while reading your post.  Kind of like the Bud Light commercials that were played a million times during Ncaa basketball tourney.

Timmy, get well.  Rest, if you actually know how to do that? :D

Eli, how could you

Timmy,
From one that has done his fair share of hospital time thiis month, I am glad that it went so well. All of it is scary but it is amazing what the med pros can do. Continued good healing to you.

Hey Timmy,

You ain't seen nothing yet! I had sinus surgery three months ago and  the results were amazing. 10 years of stuffiness and no sense of smell.  Now everything smells. Good luck and speedy recovery. Ps. the nasal irrigation really works. email or call if you want to talk specifics. It is the least I can do after our sander chat.

Duuuude!

Glad to hear it went so well! I've heard from several people that the sinus cleansing is the best thing since colonics  :D Or maybe something better  :P

It'll be interesting to see if you get a new improved sense of smell. I found I lost mine about the time I was changing diapers. Maybe it's because I never breathe through my nose any more...

Hope your recovery continues apace. Keep taking the pain meds - when the pain sets in, it sets up neural pathways that make it much harder to control after the fact than before.

Cheers, Poto

P.S. Thanks again for the Sysmini. My daughter is now the envy of her 4th grade class - the only one with a Festool pencil box! Of course, the first thing she did was put pink roses on it. The second thing was the Festool Junkie stickers you sent!
