That's pretty slick Oliver.

It would be nice to have something like that on the front rail of an MFT/3.

It is! Seems like there's an opportunity for someone making a right-angle clamping accessory that uses F-clamps. Though, the low profile of this system is definitely part of the draw.

That’s very interesting Oliver. Can’t you just start a shop for exotic tools?  [big grin]

It reminds me of the old Zyliss 4in1 vice. I recently got hold of one of these in mint condition.

It’s been featured in here as well:https://festoolownersgroup.com/index.php?pretty;board=festool-jigs-tool-enhancements;topic=mft-and-zyliss-vise.0

I'm wondering if that is the same company (Zyliss) that made the kitchen accessories? Do you happen to know that by chance?

Kind regards,
Oliver

Thanks for the positive discussion, everyone!

I will show it & it's possibilities from time to time, when I'm working with it.

Hi everyone,

I still owed a picture of the finished build-in. The trim/skirting ist still missing because I don't want to drive out to that store at the moment, but besides that it's all said and done.

One other task was to make some reliable brackets to hold shelves, I used some leftover aluminum profiles. The Rali was of great help, fixating my old Black & Decker jobber so I could easily cut the aluminum.

I should have thought about that earlier, but the 4mm plywood is not strong enough to make reliable shelve board, so I'm getting some 8mm in future.

I still want to share a picture with the 4mm plywood shelves, just take it as a bad example. ;)

Since the temperature around here is too warm for Oct./Nov./Dec. the garden requires much more attention right now than in earlier years. Here I set up a new compost. The old one needed to be cut out as it was tied down by all that ivy, and it's content needed to be strained and spread.

Nice update, Oliver.

Why don’t you get some aluminum angle or similar tubing material you made the brackets out of and rivet them under the front of each shelf.  That would add plenty of strength for the items you have on those shelves, plus let you use the wood you have.

Thanks Neil!

That is actually a good idea I hadn't thought of! I might even have some more of the aluminum. Need to check. :) Thank you very much!

Kind regards,
Oliver

Nah, 8's not good enough either. Minimum should be 15 but 18 mm is best.

Oliver, Wow where do you get your energy? You should come give me a hand setting my shop up and landscaping this place [big grin]

since you asked: When I was growing up on my uncle's farm in the Berkshires, we went "up on the hill " for our Christmas decorations. We always got our tree from our pasture lot. We got ground pine to make our wreaths. W  hen I moved back to Connecticut with my Mom, the first adventure I had with Christmas decorations was to get into trouble.

I decided to go into the woods for our Christmas tree. I drove my brother and neighbor pre teen to a forest area where i had noticed many pine and hemlock trees. While tying two trees to the car, along came a car with three people in it. They asked where we had gotten the trees. I answered that we had gotten them from the woods down by the reservoir.

The leader of the three asked who owned the woods in question.

"I think the Water Company owns the land."

"Wrong. I own the land from here on down to the water."
The lady in the group told the owner that "... we should take them to the police..."

The man who had asked the questions suggested "... we don't need to take you anywhere. Take your trees, but just don't come back next year..."

A week later, my mom was at Christmas party. She had always been an outgoing person. She got into a conversation with the town judge. She told of her two children getting into a problem with a local land owner over a couple of trees. The Judge replied, "I think I was your landowner..."

To which my mom got into a long conversation in which the Judge told her we had been very polite and had offered to pay for the trees. They ended being good friends.

The next year, the judge called my mom and offered for us to "go back in his woods to get your tree..."  And for the next two years, until I graduated from high school, we always got out tree from the judge's property.

Tinker

PS: My wife, even tho our kids are older than both of us, always gets an advent card with all the goodies for all the kids in the family. She grew up in Germany and continues the practice even tho she has been in the USA for over 60 years.

Hi Oliver

The Swiss company Zyliss which are now a big name in kitchen kit did make a "Zyliss Vice". I bought one many years ago and still have it. A couple of years ago I contacted the company to find that they have given up the woodworking stuff. I asked if it were possible to get hold of drawings or even the moulds for the castings but no luck. They had even lost track of the patent information.

A copy of the Zyliss vice is on the market but it is not a patch on the original. I understand that it is made in China and marketed through a company in either Australia or New Zealand.

I have a Zyliss and although I do not use the clamping function much., I use the attachment to hold my Milwaukee corded drills for holding sanding drums, burrs or brushes. Makes a great third hand.

Thats wonderful Tinker! Thank you very much for sharing the story with us! I love it when you do that :)

Thank you for the additional picture and information, Peter! I did some research and found some offerings, there are indeed some useful attachments to be had as mentioned by rst. Really interesting and great piece of kit. I might be inclined to get one as it can be had around 100 Euro with packaging and everything. Cool "blast of the past"!

I also found this shop, that still has accessories and spare parts:https://www.rexmetall.ch/Zyliss-Z-Vise:::424.html

Kind regards,
Oliver
