Hi Oliver, nice fix!

And good to know that the Wera Service is performing. I started a small collection recently. I only really noticed when it came to clear out the storage and there was a big pile of the nice black Wera boxes that had accumulated during the last couple of months.

What blades are you using for Metal?
I had a bunch of Festool ones, but they are almost gone and I wonder what else is out there for the odd cut in metal with the jig saw?

BTW: nice to see you post more frequently again.

I used a 3176-F blade from MP.S for these cuts, it was given to me by MP.S for testing/evaluation/feedback purposes. I really do like this blade, but I haven't finished testing yet and I'm still working on my overall report - which probably will be transformed into a posting, too. At some point in near future. Until then, I really don't feel comfortable giving out any recommendations - or getting much deeper into this right now. I'm sorry.

Just repairing the candle arch ... Building a pyramid is definitely another level. Would you plan/layout it yourself if you did it, or use available/bought plans? Hi Oliver - I'll definitely look at the plans, but I was thinking of buying a kit for my first go at it.  For this Christmas I may just buy one assembled for my wife - she loves them.

Had a great phone conversation with someone from Wera a couple of minutes ago. They were actually quite surprised when they found my E-Mail with the pictures.

Needless to say, they're sending a new one, and would like to have the old one for analyzing. Promised to keep me in the loop as to what went wrong/ why this one broke.

Then a contactor is kinda acting up again. I didn't do much but measure it's surface temperature, checked against the base board of that built in cabinet with a radiator beneath - just to be sure. And then I wanted to know if that buzzing and humming is definitely coming from the contactor, so I used an old school industrial stethoscope - and yes, it's the contactor. ... to be continued at some point ...

yeah, it definitely is. That red piece is even insulated to some extend - so when used near live circuits risk of electric shock is significantly reduced.

Just in case someone is interested in some more pictures of that industrial/ mechanic's stethoscope.

Those stethoscope's are really, really handy for diagnosing engine noises in automobiles and motorcycles.  [big grin]

Originally, I used a long handled screwdriver (18"-24") and put the metal blade on the suspected noise source and placed the handle against my ear. That worked...kind of...sometimes...sort of...

Then about 20 years ago I picked up an inexpensive Lisle stethoscope for $15-$20. What a huge difference that makes, you can actually hear a bad bearing in an alternator with it.  [smile]
