Here is a simple little project i made for the better half for Valentine's Day.

Made out of Ziricote, small scrap but very dense.  It wasn't too oily, so I thought to make her a little phone stand and ring tray for her nightstand.  Here are the beginning and end photos (still wet from some finish) and I will push the build photos in after it is 100% complete.  This was my own design and didnt come out 100% like i wanted (sap wood got in the way), but i know show will like it... or I will crack it over hear head... Ziricote is very heavy/dense!

Thanks for looking,

cheers.  Bryan.

Here is a little bit more about the process. I decided to use a sliding dovetail and changed it to an angled one after I cut the pieces. In hindsight it made it a lot harder.

I had to make several jigs in order to get the look  i wanted. One jig to hold the angled back for the cell phone.

Taking my time and only nipping off a little made it a very nice fit.

I also free handed a "pool" shape for the ring tray. A quick cut with the Carvex made it a template for my bowl bit.

Some shellac and quick finish is all it needed.

I did cut a hole for the lightning cable which I will simply hot glue in for now. She now has a place to dock her phone and put her rings... Her two favorite things (I think in that order!)

It shows how many steps there are, even in a small piece. Thanks for posting
