Does anyone in the UK know where I can get a heat bar for solid surface materials such as the Elkom one, I need one for Friday but they are not cheap at over £400 with the vat.
Wondering if anyone knows of an alternative make / supplier.
Thanks

Unusually no replies so had to bite the bullet and order 1 today along with a couple of router bits due tomorrow

For what it's worth andyman I put out some feelers but got no response either. I suspect the only option you had was the one you took.

Found another 1 slightly cheaper but didn't have an account so paid the extra to go with the people I know, arrived this morning!

where did you buy it from? the only place i know is cd uk ltd and there expensive, i may need one in future thanks

Type in Ney Musse in your search engine theirs was about 20 cheaper but the temperature control looks better on the Elkom one.
Worked great as well

I want to see what you're making now! I've never thermoformed any solid surfaces. The guy I work for a lot uses a couple of old electric hobs and a sheet of aluminium to spread to heat evenly...

What size did you get for £400?

And I'd like to see this hob and aluminium setup that E30Mark speaks of !

1600mm long bar.
worked well got to watch your hands as very hot 160 degrees [eek]

I've not seen it in operation, if I ever do I'll get some pics!

I tried an electric heater with a steel plate, along with 2 electric clothes irons but it would not do the curves
