I've been delivered to Sortainer Heaven lately. I bugged a friend who went to Germany to pick up two of the Tanos Sortainers that aren't offered here. Ever since Ned's post about them, I've been lusting after them. My friend was gracious enough to get them for me. I then bought a couple of the assortments from McFeely's and picked up another 12 drawer. It swallowed all of the screw assortment and all of the other boxes, cartons, and jars of screws that I've had scattered everywhere. Certainly made my wife happier.

The two boxes from Germany have proven their worth already. I swapped the drawers around between the two and the small one became the perfect companion to my jigsaw. It holds the blades and accessories perfectly. The one with two large drawers is currently doing service as a support system to my MFT. All of the clamps and hold downs fit in the two larger drawers, while the smaller ones hold my toolie tool, folding rule, etc.

I never thought that I'd pay this much or fall this hard for storage boxes. However, I'm discovering that the real worth of these is the portabilty and organization features. It's making my life better...............

I'm this close to picking up those black ones from Germany.

My only fear is that they'll show shop dust and dirt too easily.

I'm really happy with the beige. Don't really show dust, etc. I may even change out the blue tabs for the green. Not that big a deal, but once you start feeling organized maybe everything should match............

I have a couple of Minis in Anthrazit, the other standard Tanos color.  It's dark gray.  And yes, it does show dust.

Black's available, too.  It'd be worse.

How about an emerald green Systainer for your first aid kit?

So that 3 drawer box is that one from Germany? I like the idea of attaching that to my Trion too. I notice that it does not appear to be available from Festool Australia either.

Nice Sortainers, I would like to get the one with the two deep drawers, I may have to get one when I go to Europe next month.
When I was back there a couple of years back I picked up these mini systainers that the dealers where selling as a special, only $14 each.
I would like all my systainers to be the green. Its not the normal green that Tanos makes, it is Festool green and limited edition.

If you buy a Protool product this autumn (in the Netherlands), you'll get a first aid mini systainer for free!
See here

For anyone stuck on 110V, I'd be happy to help you get rid of all the useless 230V tools, of course. ;D

TahoeTwoBears has it right.  If I could convince Festool USA to import only 2 more Systainer models, they'd be:

[attachthumb=1]
The Drawer-Systainer IV-1

[attachthumb=2]
The Drawer-Systainer I

and then there's  :D

[attachthumb=3]
The KID-Systainer II

I'm not digging the big drawer on my 4 sort. I end up putting too much stuff into it and the drawer gets caught when stuff jams up against the top (inside). My next ones will be small drawers. It's okay to fit only a tool or two in each, too much room=too much optimistic cramming on my part.

It turns out that the little 4 drawer sortainer that is the sys-1 size is the perfect mate to a lot of the systainers. It'll hold the small bits that can get lost in the bigger systainer and you don't have to seperate the two to get at the items. I've thought of several applications, but only have the one. I suspect I'll be trying to get more in the future. Bummer that they're so hard to get at.

Ideal tools can get you the 4 drawer. I got one.

Do you mean the slim one as shown further on in the post or the normal sortainer 4 drawer one? I have seen only SYS-3 sized sortainers on Ideal Tools site. I would like to get hold of the Sys-1 sized ones. Can we purchase these from Germany do you think or is that not in the rules (not to mention that postage will probably be more than the sys)

Metabo sell a dark green systainer called a metabox. The Pro tool versions are dark grey.

No, the normal sort 4.

4,6,9,and 12 as far as I know. But call Anthony and ask him anyway.

Tanos, maker of all Systainers, is separate but related to Festool.  There are no certification or safety issues, only shipping ones.  You can order from anyone willing to sell to you.

If Festool offers the Systainer product you want, buy it.  It's invariably cheaper than importing the same thing on your own.

When you order Tanos goods, be sure to look at all the inserts and accessories that could make your Festool-supplied Systainers more useful.  The foam inserts don't add much weight, and can be used as packing for the shipment.

Shipping is expensive.  It is most economical to buy a lot of Tanos stuff at once, since it is light for its volume and the shipping is priced by weight.  My orders have been in the range USD 300-400 + shipping.

Can't speak to the situation in Oz, but I have had no customs trouble and no duty in the USA.

I have dealt with, and been very pleased by, Kofferfunshop in Germany.  Their website shows prices including the 19% VAT, which buyers outside the EU do not pay.  Since there are both VAT and shipping issues to deal with, I email a proposed order to the store.  Their response gives me a more precise figure.  Repeat as needed.  Paypal, and then wait.

I'm happy with what I can get here as far as sortainers go. I'm just a little bummed out I can't find the SYS 5 esky they had as a promotion a few years ago.

Festool? Heelllooooo? Bring back the cooler! I want to be able to snap my lunch onto my tools.

Eli,

Surely the Sys5 is available in oz? Can't think of any reason why your dealer wouldn't be able to get you one...
