Sortainer Heaven

I'm not digging the big drawer on my 4 sort. I end up putting too much stuff into it and the drawer gets caught when stuff jams up against the top (inside). My next ones will be small drawers. It's okay to fit only a tool or two in each, too much room=too much optimistic cramming on my part.

Eli, you should know by now this is like a law of physics or something. Every drawer is too shallow for the use it gets. Socks get stacked too high in the sock drawer. Screwdrivers get jammed against the top in the tool box. Forks and knives get wedged against the face frame and on and on and......... ::)

Jonny-
No they have SYS 5's a plenty. This one was a Festool OZ promotional one that was foam insulated to serve as a cooler. Tanos still has them I think. They just aren't handy around here anymore. Maybe it's time for a new promotion?

Greg-
That's what I like about the shallow skinny drawers. You can only fit for example two adjustable wrenches or a single pair of diagonal cutters, making that drawer almost a single item only drawer. The deeper drawer on my sort 4 are the ones that get too much crap in them, because I'm always thinking, "I can fit one more pair of scissors in there".

I'm happy with what I can get here as far as sortainers go. I'm just a little bummed out I can't find the SYS 5 esky they had as a promotion a few years ago.

Festool? Heelllooooo? Bring back the cooler! I want to be able to snap my lunch onto my tools.

If you can stand the shipping- I have seen these (Festool Sys IV cooler with polar bear on it) on Ebay fairly often.  Also kofferfunshop has the cooler version.

About the cooler:  How about cutting some styrofoam or using an inner box and some aerosol insulating foam to make your own?

Well, looking at the kofferfunshop link that Ned posted and there are insulated Tanos units there:
http://www.kofferfunshop.de/systainers/systainer-sets/insulating-systainer+iv.html?osCsid=2a693cfbf11ed8ccf04e4a188a492503

That will be about as official as it gets with out purchasing some second hand units I imagine.

By the way the samll Sys 1 sized 4 drawer Tanos is also there. Here is the direct link:http://www.kofferfunshop.de/drawer-systainer+i.html?osCsid=2a693cfbf11ed8ccf04e4a188a492503
From previous experience I would suggest that an average rule of thumb is that the VAT reduction is about the cost of the postage so usually you find the listed price is approximately the total price.

Not inexpensive at almost US$90 but excellent none the less!
