I'm looking for new ideas for building space-saving dining tables.  Any pics, ideas, etc. would be appreciated...especially if it was built by a FOG member. Thanks.

This one would save a bunch of space... but not made by a festooler!  [thumbs up]

Thanks! That would be perfect for sitting elves, but I need something for big people!

For our small dining area, I built a version of the Dutch Pullout Table that Tage Frid described in Tage Frid Teaches Woodworking.
When we pull out both of the self-storing extensions, we can seat up to 10. Even 12 if we crowd 2 people across each end.
Google Dutch Pullout Table for images and plans.

The shaker drop leaf table would be a good idea to copy. You can adapt the length and height

Thanks, Guys!!! All great ideas...need all the ammo of ideas that. I can muster up...going to meet a new potential client tomorrow who wants something different.  This will all help a lot!

Don't know which style you prefer but I saw this scandinavian style table a couple of years ago. It can get pretty long. There's a video if you follow the link.

Maybe you can use it for inspiration.

Edit: and there's also other styles on the manufacturers web page.

Kind regards
Henrik

Thanks, again, guys! Henrik, I looked at the scandinavian table and am confused on how it works and is put together.  It is an interesting idea...it's cleaner than a lot of the Danish folding concepts.  The person always has a small and comfortable table that can extend out easily...there was another similar concept, posted by Fidel (I think) that folds up almost like an accordion.  That table requires a certain hardware that is proprietary.

Yes, Tom. Thanks. That's what we have. I put this thread out there because I just want/need to know as much as I can about space-saving furniture.  I've designed a few things, myself, but still don't feel like I really know enough.

search for italian or german furniture saving space.  You will see some ideas.

I hope someone will have the search skills that are missing from me tonight.  There was a thread here that showed a video of multi-purpose furniture for a micro apartment.  Most of the furniture was white  I was thinking that it might have some ideas for the OP.

HELP!

Peter

I remember that thread, Peter.

I think the company was in Manhattan or Brooklyn.

Tom

Thanks Tom.  I was beginning to think that I was totally nuts.  I have spent over an hour searching and failed.  Maybe someone else out there will remember and have the magic word.
