Spike TV's "Framework" Show features Jory Brigham and other furniture designers

I am a fan of Jory's work and look forward to seeing the designs out of this show. I very rarely watch anything like reality TV, but I will watch something which shows real talent with visual artisans. I also will enjoy catching the festools in the show. A SHOT everytime you see a Festool! Framework, the new drinking game.

Now that I can get into! Gotta chug a beer for the big ticket tools like kapex and cms

So, the first episode has aired.  What is the consensus?

I think the judges made a wise decision on who to send home....  A few interesting designs from reclaimed wood/debris.  A few failures in design, craftsmanship, and execution.....  And as the case with all reality shows, the producers throw us someone to dislike, etc.....

I thought the bottom 3 were correct, but I think the guy who built the double rocking bench should have gone home.

love watching these types of competition cause the trash talk is lol to me  ;D, now that the fact that festools are in the background and being used its much cooler. i love involving glass, metal and upholstery into furniture. those dove tails fine woodworking stuff isnt for me. cant even find a site to watch a replay online  [sad]

Spike TV also has an app for the iPhone and iPad.  Probably an equivalent available for androids as well.....

Can't watch it outside of NA, but that wasn't (too) surprising... [sad]

Yes, you can.

I think there was a lot of time spent on this first episode with introducing the show, the contestants and the judges. Hopefully we'll see more of the furniture building process in future episodes.

You're an optimist Shane!  This is Spike TV where I'm afraid people tune in for drama, not sawdust!  I did watch the first episode and hope they dig a bit more into the work, but have a feeling this is all about the personalities!

I thought is was pretty cool. Sure it has the TV drama built in but still neat to see he designs and the process. I do hope they show more action next week.

While it's a cool idea, it will turn out just like every other show based around the same concept.

Maybe someone will loose a digit or something exciting like that.

Shane,
Thanks for the heads up on the show.  I don't have cable so it was off my radar screen until you posted.

Watched it online last night with my wife and daughter.  I'm not sure if it was the personalities, the furniture designs or a combination of both that they liked most, but they really enjoyed it and want to see more!  We ended up watching some of the video shorts previews for the ping pong table episode on Spike's website.

Just a reminder that Framework is on Spike TV tonight.  In my area last week's episode is coming on first at 9:00 PM followed by the new episode at 10:00 PM.

Have Fun!

Anyone in the UK find it on-line ?

Did you try the link that Shane posted?  I was wondering if it was blocked to overseas markets.

Not sure if this helps outside the US, but this is the link I used to watch the full episode online at the spike.com website.  I don't know when the current episode will get posted, maybe not until the next day.

I just listened today to an arts segment on our local NPR station featuring interviews of two of the contestants, Freddy Hill and Jason Radcliffe, who are both from the Cleveland area.  Freddy sounded a lot more laid back on the radio.  The other Ohio contestant is Lacey Campbell who is from Toledo.

With all due respect to Jory and his followers, now that the Bucks took the NCAA title, it sure would be nice for a followup Ohio win on the show!

You guys overseas aren't missing much.  I had high hopes for this show and I love Jory's Youtube videos.  But in my humble opinion, it's the worst show ever about furniture making.  Good for Festool's for getting some exposure but I hate the cut-throat format.  I don't know who's more annoying, the self-centered contestants or the down right nasty judges!    It would be nice to see a new type of woodworking show. It doesn't have to be a traditional instructional show, it could be one that highlights an artist's creative process in their own shops.  And if we see a glimpse of their shop and a few unique techniques maybe using some shiny new Festools, that wouldn't be so bad either.
