Spraying Tinted Clear

Added Mixol to clear top coat. Overlapping passes by as close to 50% as I can get I'm getting noticeable striping. Put second coat on now checker board. I'm using Target Emtech 9300. Should I spray diagonals or perhaps many more coats except lighter (I'm currently laying down 2-3mil).

Any help appreciated.

I was told to lighten the dye load and shoot more coats to avoid this problem. If it is not too many pieces I would sand it back almost to bare wood then use a lighter dye load to try to get the color where you want it.

Also check your air cap to make sure you are getting a even fan pattern. I spray a horizontal pattern on a scrap without moving the gun until it starts to run. This will show an uneven fan by one side having more runs.
